Its a football game it can go either way. But i still say the smart bet is the top 10 team having to win by a FG. Even if FSU loses i will still say i made the right bet

Lol, classic. Now it's the "it can go either way" argument? If Florida State loses you still made the right pick? How do you come up with this shite?

Top ten team coming off a lose playing an inferior opponent. Clemson at home is the only thing i see as an advantage for them.

what i dont understand is why you think they are 10 pts better than FSU. Ive watched clemson play 2 times, not impressed either time

dude this thread isn't about you being right or wrong about Clemson. Were All just trying to pick over 60%. Don't turn this into a pissing match because you think Clemson is good because they beat auburn. Home field is worth 3 in the spread, so in reality for Clemson it is at best a pick em, but more likely they go down by a td

Not a pissing contest. People asked me why I thought they’d win by 10 so I defended my reasoning. Just thought we were talking football is all .

See I’ve always thought the “coming off a loss” argument never made sense. I also think it’s the exact opposite for a team in Florida State’s case. They built the Oklahoma game up as the biggest game in Jimbo’s tenure and something that would springboard the Noles back into the National Championship talk only to lose. That kind of thing leads to an emotional hangover not to mention the effect that kind of a physical battle takes on your team.

The same thing happened with Virginia Tech two years ago. Their match against Boise was their chance to state their case in the National Championship talk and to put the Broncos back in their place. Instead they lost it and went on to lose to James Madison the very next week. Don’t tell me JMU wins that game any more than 1 out of 10 times. It was simply the timing and circumstances.

I don’t think Clemson is some world-beater that would thrash FSU under any circumstances, but with the location and FSU coming off the big loss, I like Clemson big in this one. I definitely could be wrong though (would be far from the first time haha) and I’ll be here as well to take my medicine if I need to.

I’ve mentioned above that two of the reasons I like Clemson are the timing of FSU coming off the loss and the game being at Death Valley, but there’s more.

1. I truly believe Clemson will get substantially better quarterback play than the Noles. It’s either a banged-up quarterback in Manuel who will likely be less of a mobile threat and still throws more INTs than TDs so far in his career (14-12), or it’s a first-timer in Clint Trickett. Either way they’re both going to be on the road whereas Clemson’s Tahj Boyd will be at home. Now I know Auburn isn’t the 85 Bears on defense, but it’d be hard to watch what Boyd did in that game and not be impressed. He’s still young though so he will make mistakes, especially on the road, but I expect him to play exceptionally well at home. He just has that demeanor.

2. The Noles are one-dimensional. They can’t run the ball. Their offensive line has been disappointing in run blocking (they’ve been much better at pass blocking) and their running backs lack an elite playmaker. Clemson, on the other hand, looks to be much more multi-dimensional.

3. Chad Morris will be as household of a name as Gus Malzahn by the end of this season. I remember when this guy got to Tulsa, just listening to him speak was astounding. He’s a no-nonsense coach who will continue his meteoric rise through the college ranks. This is without a doubt the number one reason I expected a transformation in Clemson preseason. They’ve always had talent, but when I heard Morris was heading to Clemson as their OC they were immediately my surprise team for 2011. Seriously, go look-up some stuff on him, he’s incredible.

4. Clemson has 10x the playmakers on offense that Florida State does. For those who didn’t watch the Auburn game or somehow didn’t see his film coming out of high school, Sammy Watkins is a freak of nature. I remember watching his film as a junior and thinking he’d be one of the top recruits in the nation if he came out that year. You don’t see too many 205 pound freshmen who are Florida state sprinting champs. Then the second guy, Hopkins has freaking glue on his fingers. He doesn’t have the speed Watkins does, but they run back shoulders to him all day and I see no way 5’-8 Greg Reid defends this. Then they have Dwayne Allen at tight end controlling the middle. I don’t know if his Auburn game was an aberration, but he was incredible in that game, made athletic catch after athletic catch. Then their running back crew of Ellington, Howard, and Bellamy can tote the rock better than any Florida State have.

5. I have respect for Florida State’s defense but I also think it’s overrated. Oklahoma and Jones historically play very average on the road. It’s still quite a feat holding them to 23 points, but I think their domination is a little overstated. Playing in front of that kind of rocking crowd will help any defense.

Basically it comes down to this, Clemson and Florida State played last season in Tallahassee. Clemson went in with their worst offense in 20 years, without their best player in Andre Ellington, and dominated every statistical aspect of the game only to lose on a 55 yard field goal as time expired. This year they have a top 10 Offensive Coordinator in the nation (yes I think he’s that good), they have their best player back, they have the best true freshmen in the nation, and they get the game at Death Valley. Now why wouldn’t I think all of that is worth at the very least a three point swing in Clemson’s direction for the win?

That’s all. And no I’m not getting pissy, just enjoy talking football!

Yea I had two way wrongs last week. I thought Tennessee would beat Florida straight-up so Tennessee +9 seemed like the biggest lock on the planet. I’m actually more pissed at myself for being lazy and not getting it at +10 so I could’ve pushed. I was also way off on Houston -7, but I guess for some odd reason I actually expected them to play more than just the fourth quarter hahaha. Went 6-0 in my other bets though so I’ll take 6-2 even if my two “locks” were losses.

In my opinion the same thing can be said about Clemson coming off their biggest win in gos knows how long. I just think FSU is a better team and will win. Best of luck to your bet and i will cheer for mine

Ita one of my smaller bets my big bets as of now is UGA and oregon. If they both win FSU can forfeit for all I care

I thought for sure they had a chance to win and could for sure keep it very close, especially if it turned into a shootout. Luckily I got it at 10.

We had similar records I went 6-2-1. If only PSU had an offense

Haven't read most of your post yet, but I'll give you this, they have had a similar meteoric rise. He was coaching highschool what 2 years ago? Pretty damn impressive.

Ditto this on my Clemson bet. I trust Clemson about as much as a two dollar whore so I’m not putting anywhere near my standard bet amount when it comes to them. Dabo literally comes off like some meth-headed country male cheerleader, but I really think Morris, Watkins and Hopkins are the differences in this one.

As for my bigger bets, here’s what I’m thinking although most are still in chalk:

-LSU -5.5 at West Virginia: Not sure what I think about this line. It seems too low. Initially I wanna say LSU will pound WVU, but that place is going to be rocking and this could be a signature win for the Skullet. I’ll probably stay away from it.
-UGA -10 at Ole Miss: Another one that’s surprising. Ole Miss is freaking awful and Richt is playing for his job. This shouldn’t be close.
-Georgia Tech -6 vs. UNC: While UNC has played well against GT’s triple option in the past, that offense looks unstoppable this season and UNC’s defense has been underwhelming.
-Cincinnati -7 vs. North Carolina State: Better team, at home, on a Thursday night. Gotta think Cincinnati can cover a touchdown.
-Notre Dame -3.5 at Pittsburgh: Had to be quick to get this line, and I pulled the trigger on it right away. I’ve seen it all the way up to -7 at some places.
-Nebraska -22.5 at Wyoming: Wyoming gave up 32 to Webet State, this one should get ugly fast.

I know I asked it before, but does anyone know anything about Virginia? I put $10 I think on them vs USM. The spread is -3. Just took a stab at it because Southern Miss is bad.

It's a bad way to bet, but I figured it's only $10, just lets me get interested in the game.

I had a conversation will aomeone that I'd the game got under nine I wanted florida if it got over 10 I wanted Tennessee. Really thought this game was a ten point game. With hunter not getting hurt I think Tennessee covers and loses by three.

I think Oregon beats zona by 30

Have you seen either play at all? I haven't, but it's the only action in town Thursday night, so I gotta pick one of em

Saw parts of Cincinnati against Tennessee, but I’m mainly basing it off NC ST losing to Wake Forest. They have no receivers and their defense has been atrocious as of late. I think Cincinnati can score with anyone so that’s why I’m taking them. I’m far from confident on this one though. I’m kinda the same as you, had to pick someone haha.

yeah, i figured it out!!

i'm waiting to see if the line will drop for Fla but so far i'm brewing up this parlay:

Nebraska -23.5
ND -6.5
(fla will go here if it drops)

what do you think about Vandy getting 15.5?

i dont think they will lose by that much to USCe

I suggest Oregon. The UF line is going up not down. Every one is getting on UF. Don't see that line going down much

On vandy. To me I have no desire to touch that game. No idea what SC team is going to show up. Gun to my head I'd take vandy. But would not want that gane in a parlay
