But man, these names have me reminiscing big time. 90s-to-early-00s tennis was awesome and fun as frick to watch. I used to love watching Agassi, Sampras, Chang, Goran, etc. It was also fun to have Americans kicking arse as well, which hasn't been the case for a long arse time now. I know Chang never won much, but I used to love watching that dude chase down balls all over the place.
Serve and volley play with Pete, Goran, Rafter, Phillapousis
Grind it out play with courrier, Chang, lleyton
Aggressive baseline play with agassi, safin
Clay court fun with Guga, brugera
Damn it was awesome

I have all the respect for today’s players, but frankly they are just too good, too well conditioned and too well rounded and the tour just isn’t nearly as heterogeneous as it was in the 90s. The 90s era was so compelling because there were so many great but flawed players. It gave matches and tournaments just the right amount of non-sense and unpredictability needed for compelling sports.
Everyone on the tour today is seemingly a Boris Becker 2.0 with no clear weaknesses.

I'm not sure Becker was who you wanted to use there.
