I've been at plenty of tracks that change for big days. Hell, delta is almost as bad as Santa Anita for their jackpot day.
What is normally a deep sand surface is like a road for that one weekend.

i agree on tracks changing surface, but Cali tracks do it on BC day so their front running nags get the edge.
