You are a braver and stronger person than I.

No...just been doing brackets since I was a kid.
The first time I did them, I was up in Knoxville in March of '89 to celebrate my birthday at the SEC tournament (a gift from mom and dad and an arse whoppin to LSU from the homecourt Vols).
I was sitting up in the higher level and some old douchebag was curious to see a young boy doing brackets. It just so happened that I projected Seton Hall and Michigan to play in the c'ship game - and they did! While I was filling them out, however, I had Seton Hall paired up against Mizzou and beating them in some round. They guy, who by the way was eerily similar to Mr. Rogers in clothing, accent, and demeanor, told me that no way does Seton Hall get past Missouri. Well...they did that for real also.
I'm not saying I am any good at this...just saying that it's been a fun hobby of mine for 20 years. My dad and have always, together, done our brackets as Selection Sunday comes on. It's one of the most fun times in sports. Is there anything more tense than Selection Sunday?

I've never done true bracket projections, but I do sit and analyze the hell out of them once they come out. It is tense, even when your team isn't stuck in the bubble.
I love the game of college basketball, and could watch any two teams play (well almost). One day, I want to go to MSG for the Big East tourney, especially now that all 16 teams are entered. 5 straight days of watching hoops at the Garden? Heaven. It's the basketball equivalent of watching the SEC baseball tourney in Hoover. Done it twice and going again this year. I buy a scorebook, go in the morning and sit there all day.
Will be fun to see how much I actually know about the process when I put them together on Sunday.

I totally envy you for that. I would love to go to the Big East tourney. Talk about game after game of quality hoops.
I went to the Garden in '01 for the NIT Final4. I was staying across the street from MSG and Penn Station at the Hotel Pennsylvania. My friend and I just needed something to do that night (other than girls from Rutgers
) and we got great courtside seats and watched Bama beat Detroit and Memphis beat Tulsa. As fun as that was, it's probably nowhere near the BET.
This year is going to REALLY be a good one...tons and tons of NBA drool talent: Harangody, Thabeet, Williams, Clark, Hazell, Fields, Blair, McNeal, Onuaka, Dar Tucker, Cunninham, Butler...wow. What a great conference.
I didn't know SIXTEEN (all) teams were invited this year. Did I understand you right?

Xavier falls to Charlotte.
Damn, we should have beaten those guys!
My belief for LSU is that we win out from this point on...nothing stops us.

God we could use a rest though, lol. Although, picking against the fatigued team in the postseason never seems to work out.
St. Mary's deadlocked at the break and USC coming down to the wire at home against Wazzu. Breakdown coming after the games are done.

Not too much to break down, but here are the notes from Thursday:
GONZAGA
Clinched a share of the WCC title. Own the tiebreaker over St. Mary's and Portland, so the Bulldogs clinch the top seed in the WCC tourney and a bye in the semifinal round.
MICHIGAN/MINNESOTA
Michigan is working their way back into the discussion. Still a bit out. Minnesota, on the other hand, has worked their way into the bubble. These two could end up swapping spots before it's all over...and they get to play again at Minnesota in the final game of the season on March 9.
XAVIER
Their first bad loss of the year, but I guess even good teams get one. At Charlotte (4-7 in the A-10) is horrible. This team has hit the skids a bit lately, but Sean Miller is a good coach and will get them out of it. Not in any danger, just slipping in seed down to the 5 range. In danger of losing out on the A-10 regular-season title, though, with Dayton and Temple right there.
ST. MARY'S
Pulled it out against San Diego, and they are staying in the race, but I just still don't know if buy them getting an at-large right now. 8-4 in the conference isn't amazing, even with wins over Providence, K-State and San Diego State. They also have a loss to UTEP. If they beat Utah State in the BracketBuster, maybe my faith will be restored. Both schools need that one, especially after Utah State dropped one to Boise in conference.
USC
Won a tight one at home against Washington State, but it doesn't get them back in the field, yet. Still some work to be done for the Trojans. Big one at home against Washington on Saturday, and then at Cal next week before closing with the Oregon schools. Gonna be tight for USC. I think they will need a couple of Pac-10 tourney wins to seal the deal, in the end.

I have decided to out Davidson back into the field. I just don't see another team from that conference getting in over 'em, but stranger things have happened.

ANCHOR WATCH:
Washington
Expect them to lose to both Arizona teams, after losing a crucial game to UCLA. The current Pac 10 leader, the Huskies have not been a consistent team. If they fall to 19-9 by the middle of next week, expect the bubble to inch closer to them.

Interesting. Imagine what LSU would have done in '90 in the NIT. We smacked Vandy around twice that season...putting 100 plus in both.

I remember MSG was getting ready for the Circus. I was walking around the concourse and looked below and could see some elephants getting herded around .
That 1989-90 LSU team was one of LSU's most tragic teams. Really talented, but really young and misunderstood and will always be scoffed at by the majority of the LSU fanbase.

Remember Scott Draud from Vandy?

The Bomb Squad. He still holds their 3 pt record.Vanderbilt put up 108 in the Nashville game that year.
Vanderbilt,UNLV and Princeton are the only 3 teams to make at least one 3 pt shot since the rule was put in in 1986-7.

I'm saddened I don't have any basketball to report on tonight. Oh, well. Game 1 at the Box was a success...that place was super nice. I loved it. Can't wait to go again Sunday. Which means I have all day tomorrow for hoops action.

Alright Pisces, you wanted it, here it is. A bit raw. I focused hard on getting the pod deals right, reducing travel in the opening two rounds, will probably have to re-adjust some seedings more vigorously over the weekend. Found myself agreeing way too much with Lunardi, especially the 6/11 and 3/14 in the East region. Almost identical, if not for swapping SEC schools.
