On a side note: isn't it just absurd how much these teams improve from late November to early February? I had the chance to go to Houston for that mini tournament and got there early to see Michigan St. and Texas, and both teams just looked plain awful. My have things changed.
And I don't think Suton would be too much of a problem. While he is 250 pounds, CJ is taller, and Suton only averages like 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Yep...and visa versa. Look at Baylor, Georgetown, Arkansas, and Notre Dame...that could be an NIT Final 4 right there.
Yeah, Suton isn't as good as other bigs we've faced, but CJ would have to contend with more than him. Like I said...I think we would match up well with MSU.

updated again...
and will probably be making more changes as the night goes on.
I'm putting State in. I'm sure many will object, but I think they're going to get 22 wins.

Ohio St's all but in the tourney now.

Yep. I think the Buckeyes are playing for seed now...competing against Purdue, Minnesota, and Illinois. I think they are finally gelling.

Ron Mexico and the rest of you...what did I tell you about Notre Dame? I don't think I could have been any more on the money.
2-3 wks ago, it looked like this:
Pitt
U Conn
Marquette
Syracuse
Georgetown
Notre Dame
Villanova
West Virginia
Providence
Now, it looks as though Cincy is in the picture. They deserve to be. G'town is gonna have to win 7 of their next 8 and do damage in the Big Esat tourney.

RPI...they were around 80, I believe.
I saw this coming after they dropped 2 in a row. Now they've droped 5 more since. Brey = overrated coach. But worse than Brey = Notre Dame's one-sided athletic budget that refuses to acknowldge that their basketball program, in this modern age, will be better than the football program. Notre Dame is one of the poorest schools when it comes to adequately funding basketball - men's and women's. I truly believe that ND feeds off that and this is why they are tanking towards the bottom. Hell, they may miss the 12 team cut for the Big East Tournament. If they lose to USF, they won't win again.

No way 6 get in.
I would have said the same thing, but look at the Big East - ND, Gtown, and Providence are playing so poorly, that the conf may only out in 8 instead of the once definite 9.
The Big XII is losing luster. Baylor, K State, A&M, OSU, and Nebraska could all be sitting home.
If there are fewer Cinderella teams that win their conference tourney, as opposed to a heavy favorite, then that leaves more space open for the at-large bubble teams.
6 is very possible. UT and State are really the only ones who are truly sitting on that bubble and all both have to do is win 5 of 8 and a win or 2 in the SEC tourney.
Anyway, why not 6?

Is this bracket based on if the tourney was tomorrow or who you think will get in when tourney time comes?
Miss St's RPI is 81 (15-7 when this rpi was calculated). Their best win is @UK which is a meh win anyways and then they lost to San Diego and Charlotte. I don't think see how they're going to make it and I definitely don't think they win 5 of 8 and 2 in the tourney.
UT will probably get bailed out by their tough schedule, but I could easily see them choking down the stretch and bubbling. I think 5 probably get in and only 4 really deserve to get in.

It's completely projected. That's the onoly way I like to do it. There's no fun in predicting if the tourney was tomorrow.

Win at Rupp was huge and if they beat LSU Wed night, they are looking much more favorable. I think they're dangerous and could win the SEC tourney. No team, this year, is a lock to win that tourney.

UT is bubble city as of now - relying only on their terrific OOC schedule and win over Marquette (the G'town wwin is about like our WSU win). I think if they pull out JUST 20 wins, then they're in, unlike Miss State, who needs 23.

What do you think it'll take for Nebraska to make it in the tournament?
We have @ Missouri, K-State, Baylor, and Kansas.
and Texas A&M, Iowa State, and Colorado at home.
I can see us winning all 3 at home.. which would put us at 8-4 in the conference.. probably lose to Kansas. But we have already beaten Mizzou and K-State earlier in the season, and we should be able to hang with Baylor. Let's say we split the ones on the road, 2-2, do you think 10-6 in the conference would be enough to get us in?

To get in, must win either @ Mizzou or Kansas. Win both and it looks good. Of those 7, win 5, but one or more of those 5 wins needs to be vs. a team with an rpi below 30.
10-6 enough? I think so.

Florida State and Cincy are making strong bids to get off the bubble.
Illinois made statement today with big win over Purdue.
Memphis proved last night why they'll get a 2 seed, despite the weak conference opposition.

yeah, nd is done
and i had an argument with a friend today, he tried to tell me that lsu sucks and that they wouldnt finish in the top half of any major conference, and i had to laugh
he was defending the big 12, which is the most overated conference in the fricking country
cards with a nice win today, can not fricking lose to nd this week

The bubbliest of them all. 4 teams are locks in the Big 12...then you have K State, Nebraska, A&M, Oklahoma State, and Baylor all sitting on the bubble and all having a chance to blow it. Hardly a superior conference. Outside of OU and Kansas, I'd take LSU vs. any of the others - even Texas.
