All these guys have a college degree fwiw...to me you can be a thug and have a college degree but the two usually don't mix. I know Miami Hurricanes are an exception to that rule.

Rashad Evans,
Josh Koscheck,
Jon Fitch,
Randy Couture,
Matt Hughes,
Chuck Liddell,
Shane Carwin,
Tito Ortiz ='s THUG
Dan Henderson,
Matt Lindland,
Mark Coleman,
Clay Guida,
Frankie Edgar,
Matt Hamil,
Grey Maynard,

MMA and it's not close.

I used to love boxing, but got tired of decisions constantly going to the wrong guy. Holyfield vs Lewis was the beginning of the end of boxing for me.

MMA is much more complex and more of a "sweet science". Just a huge amount of complexity added.

MMA is also apparently much better for the athletes. Old boxers are sad to watch. The MMA guys actually take less punishment to the head. When you get hit with gloves over and over again it leads to serious damage. In MMA you get hit a couple of good times and you're out.

Representin brah!!!

The Diaz's brothers are the epitome me of thugs but for the most part there is no reason to keep implying MMA are full of thugs.

Boxing still rules in this country. Boxing still rules under my roof. This is a pointless thread though because it's to each his own. I watch both fwiw but will watch shotime boxing over mma ppv.

Boxing marquee matchups outsell mma marquee matchups in every ppv. So boxing is not dead it's just that the fights are not happening fast enough. IMO.

I love boxing. I wish they would get their shite together. I don't know if it'll ever happen. I don't care for MMA. It's entirely possible for someone to love both sports for totally different reasons. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. It's all a matter of preference.

Lots of talk about frequency of bouts and how flashy they are, kind of like comparing great steakhouses and Outback/Longhorn chain jobs...

How are they "thugs". You don't hear about them gettin arrested or breaking the law. The only one I've heard about doing that was Rampage. Other than that I haven't heard ANYTHING negative about MMA fighters.

HBO Boxing, which had a 2009 strategy of putting more major fights on HBO instead of PPV, with the idea it would pay dividends in the future by building more of a younger base audience for the sport, only had three major pay-per-view events. But all were major successes, doing a combined estimated 3,125,000 buys. All three events finished top
six for the year and in hindsight, holding fewer events made the individual events come across as more special.

Even though UFC has outpaced boxing over the course of the year for the past several years, boxing still has the capability with the right fight to do bigger numbers than even the
best UFC event.

That is the part of your link you should focus on. Brock Lesnar is mmas biggest draw by far and it barely beat out pretty run of the mill matchups outside of PAC cotto. Look at the two largest ppvs. They are boxing by a large margin. Boxing when it has it's marquee names matchup against one another hands
down king.

If mayweather and pacman fight it will set the
bar for all ppvs and the record will stand for a while

All that being said I like both and watch the majority of all mma fights. For my taste it has gotten way too technical. I hate the fact that you can't kick or knee a man on the ground. Or punch to the back of the head. The original pride rules was the greatest. Pride fighting was by far the best mma out there for me and Dana white killed it.

both are entertaining and fans should not be made to choose one over the other. Its an apple vs. orange argument.

Without PAC and Mayweather boxing is dead.

MMA is winning because it's the sport that selling, not the stars. UFC 100 sold more because they stacked the entire card and made it a special event. It's not because when Brock fights people watch.

Watch Dream. It does in fact make it more fun to watch. (no elbows though) Much like the Pride rules.

Highlighting that part to point out that one fight is not the sport doing better. MMA is on prime time network tv this weekend (CBS, stacked strikeforce card)
