Retractable roofs are a complete waste of money. Stadiums that have that feature rarely open them enough to justify the cost.

Most stadiums with a retractable roof open them once or twice a year. One of the hidden costs is that it costs around $5,000 to open to roof and the party responsible for that, team or stadium ownership, doesn’t want to absorb the cost.

All that said, there are several cities that even if they had a dome, like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincy, they have effectively told that they would not be permitted to bid for a Super Bowl because the town lacks the necessary infrastructure to do so.

If that’s the case and the locals prefer open air, there’s no need to spend an extra hundred million for a roof.

The outside of it reminds me of the "Cookie-cutter" 1970's MLB stadiums that everyone hated.

Might as well build a little more ugly building like the one the Rangers built. At least it has the retractable roof.
