This is the point I have been bringing up.
These new playoffs remove the pagentry and rivalry of regular season games.

The Miami/FSU battles in the 80s, early 90s were epic and are still talked about today.

NO ONE would remember them if they had 12 team playoffs back then because they would have almost no bearing on the national title.

Exactly. Michigan upsetting Ohio State last year should have gone down as an all-time moment in that rivalry with a 6-5 Michigan team that had been terrible all season going into Columbus and crushing Ohio State's national title dreams. Now nobody except UM fans even gives a crap about that game.

The idea of sports is not determining the best. It’s finding a champion. That’s where some of you are misguided. Playoffs don’t always tell us who the best team (Giants over Patriots), but it always determines a champion.

Best is always an opinion. A crowned champion is fact.

And the college football playoffs will expand well past 16 so if you don’t like it now you really won’t like it in another 8 years. But the stadiums will be packed as more fan bases get a shot at glory.

Not to mention Oregon's dramatic win over Ohio State that was entirely forgotten by the seeding Committee and everyone else as Oregon had to do it all over again. CFB, where big losses, are now just an opportunity to reflect and grow before the real season begins in January!
