Point is, doesn’t matter what playmakers you have at RB/WR/TE, if your OL can’t protect your QB and open lanes for your RBs and enable you to control the game,

Again their offense was just fine, it was the defense that killed them last year

Do you think pressures allowed (subjective) or sacks allowed (objective) is more important when measuring pass blocking skill?

So you don’t believe that their offensive line has any issues or room for improvement?

FWIW, I do agree their defense has issues too. They’ve lost almost every difference maker from that 2021 defense.

Sewell was considered Elite+ when he came out and you could've locked up Burrow’s blindside for the majority of his career.

you’re still doing it it’s pure fantasy to say Sewell magically fixes all the Bengals issues

He plays RT for the Lions and he’s graded as a but not as high as a pass blocker

Arguably the best run-blocking offensive tackle in the league, Sewell would have ranked higher on this list had he performed better as a pass blocker in 2024.

I don’t even disagree that they should have taken Sewell in just saying believing he fixes everything is just fantasy.

They did draft OL in the 1st round the 2 drafts before taking Burrow which GCA recommends. The signed guys including Orlando Brown from KC where we started when they won the SB. It appears the Bengals are bad at evaluating OL or have bad coaching/development (or both). The could have drafted Chase and still had a good OL with better moves they also could have taken Sewell and still have OL issues. It’s not the simple zero sum you and others are making it out to be.

Sorry. Where exactly did I say this?

Sounds like we’re pretty much in agreement and you’re arguing with yourself at this point.

No one has said that Sewell will fix every single problem that their offensive line has but he would be a vast improvement on whomever they currently have and improve the line as a whole.

And using one extremely flawed and subjective metric from PFF- See more here - does not change the fact that Sewell has proven himself on the field to be an elite pass blocker. You can argue with your wife if you believe otherwise.

See below

Also why say in retrospect they should have taken him if you don’t think he fixes their OL? It’s over they’ve had other opportunities to address OL they just apparently suck at it

I don’t think it was a mistake to draft Chase which most in thread at least imply. I don’t know think would have gone wrong either way. But with Higgins and Boyd I understand the calls to take Sewell

Burrow is obviously a lightning rod on here but Caleb Williams was sacked 68 times last year and did not get hurt. The Bears took Odunze with the 9th pick in the same draft last year their OL ranked 24 last year but they don’t get crushed for that. This year their OLwas ranked top 5 going into the season with a new scheme and some free agents, they did take Wright the year before Williams but again Cincinnati did that it’s just they guys they took didn’t pan out

You are quibbling over semantics, this statement is exactly what I mean, 1 guy especially at RT doesn’t make it a good OL, improved, sure but better scheme/coaching can do that to. See the Bears

Using sacks instead of pressure doesn’t prove anything. Pressure is a better measure whether you understand it or not.
