How does Tulanes previous three recruiting classes stack up to this one?
Coach Toledo's '09 recruiting class is vastly superior to any class since 2002.
The '06, '07 and '08 classes combined for just 1 three-star recruit!
Following his 2nd season as coach, Toledo's '09 class already has 6 three-star recruits.

What are the odds that Tulane pulls it together next year?
Coach Toledo and several players have been quoted in various end-of-season reports as unwilling to go through another 2-10 season.
The word is that the '09 recruits/returning players have already pledged to greatly improve their pre/off-season conditioning.
Toledo has promised to open positions to only those players who are committed to win.
As for Tulane's odds of success, I remain realistic.
That said, the team should improve - 6 wins would be wonderful.
Let's not forget how strong they looked early this season (at 2-2, they had lost close games to Bama and ECU).
Tulane may fall short - obvious factors include Toledo's selection of a new DC and the quality of CUSA opponents.
The biggest X factor: how will this young team and it's '09 recruits come together?
(Note: Tulane's '09 non-conference opponents include BYU, Army and LSU).

Sweet. Glad to see some improvement on Willow Street. I don't know what happened to you guys this year other than depth or lack of, taking over late in a season. I hope you guys gather enough talent to win CUSA, but still get pistol whipped by LSU.

Tulane's 22nd commit and 7th three-star recruit:
Times-Picayune: New Mexico offensive lineman chooses Tulane
Excerpts:
- "Mares is the seventh three-star prospect in Tulane’s class and the fifth player who projects to the offensive line."
- "He could project as a guard or tackle for the Wave. He is fully qualified academically with a 3.3 grade-point-average and a 20 on the ACT."
- "In addition his No. 1 ranking in New Mexico by Rivals.com, Mares also is rated as the nation’s No. 73 guard prospect and a three-star recruit."
- "Mares had additional scholarship offers from New Mexico and New Mexico State... He also being recruited by Arizona State, Texas Tech and UTEP..."
TulaneInsider.com (Scout/Fox Sports): Rio Mares, OT, 6-5/313lbs (Cibola HS, Albuquerque, NM)
Rivals.com: Rio Mares, OG, 6-6/350lbs (Cibola HS, Albuqerque, NM)

Thanks...I appreciate the support.
As someone who loves Louisiana, I believe that a stronger Tulane football program benefits greater New Orleans, the state, etc.

Good stuff Sidis!
Again, thanks...
...but for all my fellow LSU fans, let me be clear:
We all know LSU's recruiting is what ultimately matters.
Tulane will never challenge LSU...at best, Tulane may get to the point, as it once did, of beating LSU in a down year.
So, let's enjoy Louisiana football and cheer for everyone's success...most importantly, the crown jewel of Louisiana sports - LSU.

Sidis- Thanks for keeping us updated on Tulane's recruiting. I agree that Tulane's success is good for NOLA & the state. I support LSU 1st obviously, but after the Tigers, I support all Louisiana teams, especially Tulane & SLU.

Tulane's success can only bring more positive attention to Louisiana.
That's good for all Louisiana citizens.
Keep up the good work.

- Check out the story: Rivals.com: Boyd readies for recruiting stretch run (12/23/08)
- The three-star CB has already rec'd offers from Tulane, La. Tech, Tulsa, N. Illinois and Nicholls St.

I seriously think that the instate schools should start a round robin of OOC games that would help foster instate rivalries and at the very least keep the W's in the state. LSU can rent a win from Tx.

Tulane is having a good recruiting season. With all the things they face post-K it's good for them. Boyd is a solid pick up IMO, as was Banks and quite a few others.
