This is old news and was already dismissed by anyone that knows the game as bullshite. All this proved was that Bill James needs to get laid.

everyone "who knows the game" dismissed it? Don't know if I'm willing to take your word for it. Here are a couple of other quotes from different places from around the trade deadline this year. The last two focus on zone rating and say jeter had improved tremendously to that point. Unfortunately, zone rating, is the same statistic that was talked about in the last quote so maybe you are not impressed:
"Jeter is currently 14th out of 21 eligible players in ESPN’s compilation of range factor. Not good, but certainly an improvement over the last place finish Jeter has become accustomed to garnering."
"ESPN.com also compiles its own version of a statistic entitled “Zone Rating,” originally developed by John Dewan, and represented today in many different iterations. This is a stat I have put a lot of stock into the last few years, and it is a statistic in which Jeter has traditionally defined the phrase “at or near the bottom.” However, in 2009 he is currently sixth in all of baseball in zone rating amongst shortstops! This is really a remarkable turn-about!"
"To put in perspective, last season Jeter was seventh in all of baseball in Revised Zone Rating. In 2007, he was 22nd out of 25 qualifying shortstops. In 2006, he was 19th out of 24 qualifying shortstops, in 2005 it was 23rd out of 26, and in 2004 it was 18th out of 22. For Jeter to suddenly be the best shortstop in terms of Revised Zone Rating is an astonishing development."

Emmanuel, hes clearly a yankee homer who will not admit that jeter is anything less than the second coming of jesus.

I am a Yankee fan, but I don't consider Jeter the second coming of Jesus...I'm a Bernie guy. I understand that range is far from his strong point, but to say that a guy with nearly a 99% fielding percentage is a below average fielder is simply ridiculous.

Here is an article published today that does a good job of showing the positives and negatives of jeter's defense this year:
LINK
"The Yankee led all AL shortstops this year with a .986 fielding percentage, up from the .979 he had in '08. Jeter, statistically, still has the worst range at his position (3.90 range factor), but he had the best zone rating (6.48)—or the percentage of balls fielded by a player in his typical defensive "zone," as measured by STATS, Inc."
Essentially, Jeter can't get to anything. Balls hit to where he can get to, however, he is great at making a play on. Because of this, he looks like a great fielder (he fields everything that he can to, but he gets to less than anyone else).

Aybar also turned 27 more DPs than Jeter
Is it Jeter's fault that the Yankees logged 200 more strikeouts than the Angels? Had Wang pitched like he usually does this year Jeter would've had several more chances and turned probably 20 more DPs.

Is it Jeter's fault he had one of the best defensive first baseman to bail him out.

How hard is it to understand. By virtue of him having LESS range he would never get to a ball that Aybar or Andruss "MIGHT" make an error on.
As Webster just said, he is solid playing the balls he can get to, but doesn't get to near the amount of balls that other shortstops get to.
Here is another way to think about it. Let's say that are two guys. GUY A can get average pussy, but NEVER in a million years could he even approach a girl that was a 8, 9 , or 10. Then there is another guy, GUY B, who can get the average pussy ALL DAY AND NIGHT and can often get pussy from the 8,9, and 10s. However, GUY B does get turned down occasionally when trying to get a 9 or 10. GUY A may look better than GUY B pulling that average pussy, but in reality GUY B is far superior because he can get to pussy that GUY A wouldn't even be able to approach.

Adam Jones winning a gold glove over Franklin Gutierrez might be the worst award selection of all time.

He barely played the last half of the season, only to come in at the end of games as a defensive replacement
also, jeter now has 4 more GGs than he deserves

nobody, and I mean nobody should have gotten it over Gutierrez. All respect to the other guys, but my god I've never seen anyone go get it like Gutierrez.
Andruw Jones is probably his closest comp. He's incredible.

go hustle the streets or something like that. I'm sure somebody'll pay you something for doing some stuff. Then you can buy one and you'll have all the satisfaction of having done it yourself!
