I could not disagree more. I do not care if its an accident or not, if the child turns around, you stop.
He didnt stop.
He didnt stop.

Yeah, it's perfectly normal to beat 4 year olds bloody and hit them in their balls with a stick.
Thats my issue, the kid is 4 fricking years old... A bare butt spanking would have been just as affective and not left any scars/marks.

Exactly. This was so unnecessary.

fricking ridiculous.
Do you honestly believe Peterson intended to hit his kid in the balls with a stick in a premeditated fashion? I don't believe that. People that sick in the head don't spank. They punch, torture and molest children. Peterson made a mistake that he seems to acknowledge. He's a young father without a lot of parenting experience who went too far. Taking this kid from his father is not going to help him become a better young man one day.

No, but just because you don't mean to do something doesn't mean you shouldn't be held accountable for your actions.
Thats the reason we have things like negligent homicide and manslaughter. I'm not saying this is anywhere near those crimes, but those crimes are usually associated with an accident or someone not intending to do something, but still doing them.

IMO if a parent goes so far as to draw blood on a 4 year old during a whoopin, he should not be hitting his kid at all. A parent should be in control of the situation and have self control while whipping a kid.
Agreed, and he likely will learn from what he did. What happened happened and that can't be changed. What can be done is educating Peterson on how to discipline his kid, rather than taking this boys father away from him forever to go be a spoiled rich kid living off the millions of a dad he never knew.

Now this, I can agree with.

But it will keep a 4 year old safe from bodily injury.

So it makes you feel better that a grown man was whopping his 4 year old son with a stick so recklessly that he accidentally hit him in the balls?
You seriously need to take a long, hard look at what you're defending here.

I agree he should have stopped. I'm betting Peterson's parents didn't stop either and he was just trying to do what was best for his kid just like Peterson's parents did. He needs to be educated, not imprisoned.

And this is true as well.

Do you think they will teach him that it's ok to go over the line (when whipping his child) every once in a while?

He is a part time dad to begin with, has up to 7 kids and never meet the child that drowned last year. He needs to learn how to be a man first before becoming a father.

You don't know much about him

He's an inexperienced Dad just trying to raise his kid not to be a spoiled brat. I would rather he discipline his kid and go too far a time or two than neglect his kid and let it become just another celebrity brat kid who has never been taught how to act.
I get your point and agree for the most part but this was a 4 and 5 yr old horsing around playing a video game. They weren't out in public raising hell. AP is charged with a felony. Two different doctors and the cops called it child abuse. No way a huge man should be hitting a child this small with a "branch" "10-15" times "getting him in the nuts" and shite. That's despicable behavior.

I'm not defending Peterson. What he did was wrong. What I disagree with is the people who think Peterson is incapable of being educated on the issue and could never be a good father to this boy. Prison time will not help this boy. An unemployed father will not help this boy. Growing up with no father will not help this boy. Educating Peterson and letting him be a father is what will help this boy.

No and I never said it is ok either.

I'm always going to side with keeping the young innocent child safe at all costs over the attempted "don't beat your kid bloody" education of a grown man.

This was not child abuse.

Spanking a kid for knocking another player off of a motorcycle in a video game is a little excessive. Take the game away from him for awhile. For a 4 year old that's enough.
