And that changes the numbers how?

2013-2014
Defensive Win Shares: KD #10 in the league; LBJ not in top 20
Defensive Rating: Neither in top 20

2012-2013
Defensive Win Shares: KD #3; LBJ #10
Defensive Rating: KD #18; LBJ not in top 20

ETA: This is spot on:
quote:

Their games are different. Durant is a volume shooter, so he is bound to have bad nights shooting the ball. LeBron because of his size, strength, and overall athletic ability is able to pick his spots more and not force as much.

The real question is do they do enough when they have bad shooting nights to over come it. LeBron has been the best at this for a long time because of rebounding ability and tremendous vision. KD's slowly been developing this part of his game.

LeBron's greatest growth as a player has been his willingness to play in the post when other teams put smaller defenders on him. KD hasn't developed that part of his game yet.

I don't think Defensive Statistics can take into account off the ball defense, other than steals and rebounds.

ETA: They both mean different things in regards to defense on their teams, and are both very good at it. I just thing Lebron is a more well rounded defender in general.
