Thats why, every now and then, you'll see a lineman try an insane block that he has no chance at making, like hooking a wide 9 when the linebacker is walked out.
In the situation above, the OT/TE should make a call verifying the wide 9 DE and no linebacker in the gap, and they'll modify the run to allow the OT to block out the wide 9 instead of hooking them.
Blocking schemes can be a fricking bitch to deal with, especially when linebackers are showing blitz.

True, but there are things you can do to paint a better picture of the defense. Hard counts will show you who is possibly blitzing, and motioning the WR across the line will show you if it's man or zone. Another tip to a blitz is the safety walking up in a 3 WR set. They could chose to disguise it, but you would be allowing a free release of a WR with nobody within 15 yards covering him.
