Not from Atlanta or the south. What is the stadium now?

It’s Georgia States fortball stadium. Used to be Turner Field for the Braves

That showdown with Donovan Bailey - we were so hyped - what a turd that turned out to be.

Who knows if Johnson faked the hammy injury; unlike the general sports fan, he probably knew he was about to get smoked.

Bailey started 8 feet behind Johnson and was way ahead of him by the 1/3 point and you see in the video Johnson looks over at Bailey blazing past him and then suddenly pulls up with an injury.

Still not as bad as his showdown with Maurice Greene.

That was a great summer.

I was 15 and had a crush on Dominique Moceanu.

And a woman from the Cuban V’Ball team.

My 9-year-old self was watching live that night. I'll never forget Johnson going insane after the race, the noise of the crowd, or the camera continuing to cut back to the time board where it was frozen on 19:32.

The three different configurations:

Centennial Olympic Stadium (1996):

Turner Field (1997-2016):

Georgia State Stadium (2017-present):

Even my parents (who couldn’t care less about sports) were amped about it. Probably also helped that they needed to justify the $$ they spent on the tickets.
