Yep first time. Overall good experience. Queues are too long, but that's a petty gripe. I was in the second to last row all the way up. Better view than I expected. Tickets were ~$100. I'd like to be closer next time.

Another story: I'm watching Sock play on one of the outer courts, playing whoever that guy was that beat him. I'm surrounded by a bunch of brits who are just shitting all over "the american", as they referred to him. Talked about how much of a dick he is. How he doesn't have much other than a forehand, how he'll never win a slam. It went on for over 10 minutes. Then after they had apparently exhausted their vitriol, they each then did a 180 and took turns taking selfies and pictures with him in the background, giving thumbs up, etc. They even asked people to move aside for a second so they could get a good selfie. Two faced bastards.

Another one: I'm sitting in the side court watching Mattek-Sands. After she won a game, the chick who she was playing starting yelling something to her people in another language (don't remember which). The guy sitting in front of me apparently spoke the same language and interpreted for his friend that she was saying "This bitch is fricking lucky."

So I got to see Federer, Monfils, Donald Young, Sam Groth, Sock, and Mattek-Sands. I was surprised at how hard fed hits his forehand. I mean I knew it was world class obviously. But I've never seen it in person before, and I guess his effortless swing on TV lulled me into a false sense of pace. But it was really, really fricking hard.

Also, hot classy women in small dresses, big tits, and no bras. No fatties. That was a nice plus.

Here's a few random pics:

Great pics. The jealousy is strong in the Brits.

Nothing earth-shattering, but this is a pretty good summary of Tomic's life in 24 mins.

I get that the guy is a bit of a dick and an immature quitter. But the hate he gets you'd swear he goes around in the night stealing puppies to drown them.

I agree with the Brits assessment of Sock.

I'm okay saying Fed's forehand is the best forehand in the history of the sport.

Any other observations?

Decent results in DC:

Tommy Paul
Jared Donaldson
DY

Opelka at least went down with a fight.

My boy Tennys is in action tomorrow.

Ruud's a clay guy and he retired in the 3rd vs. Paul.
Donaldson barely got by Sela in 3.
DY played another American.

The women were terrible in both tourneys.

Maybe my expectations are too high.

Saw that Tennys made the US Open main draw without a wild card. Solid year for him.

His peak ranking is 100. It'd be nice to see him get in the single digits. A win today won't do it, unfortunately. And if he does win today, he gets Kyrgios in the second round, which is a big ask.

OK, so Roger is in for Montreal. I don't like it because I'm going to Cincy and could see him pull out of Cincy or semi-tank if he goes deep in Montreal. On the other hand, it might not be bad to get matches in up in Canada as an early loss at Cincy would mean little prep for the US Open.

Murray is apparently trying to play, but seeing him gingerly hit against a wall recently doesn't look good.

I think Stan is out for Canada and Cincy.

Hopefully, Rafa is ready to roll.

Saw where LSU women's tennis got a verbal commit from Ann Li, this year's Wimbledon Jr. runner-up. I know she may end up never setting foot on campus if she continues to have good success on the futures/challengers at this point, but LSU W's coaches are still doing a great job signing some top notch talent. Time for the men to step up there game!

That's a smart idea to guarantee you see him. You just have to figure out whether to buy night or day session.

I'm in Kalamazoo and it's hopping with kids everywhere for the USTA boys 16 and 18 tournament. You guys who follow juniors, who are the high profile kids here?

Looks like Tennys drew the perfect opponent. He almost got Jordan Thompson in the 3rd round too, but Zverev survived.
