Why would New Orleans be on the Large city list but Cincinnati and Orlando are on the midsize list?
1. Orlando has one team.
2. Cincinnati doesn't have a major bowl game, a golf tournament, and other minor events (arena football, auto racing, NCAA postseason events).
I'm only venturing a guess.

but New Orleans' population is smaller than Cincy and Orlando.
They have NOLA ranked #33 in football, one above Bowling Green.
Yeah, this list is bullshite. Didn't rankings from from a real organization come out a few months ago hat had NOLA's football ranking at #3?

Looks like they may just be going by population of city limits even though they have bigger metro populations than some "bigger cities."

I understand, but my point was that maybe for the purposes of this discussion, New Orleans is a "major" city because it gets a disproportionate number of major events and sports based solely on its population.

NO is bigger than both. Their metros however are bigger. San Antonio is top 10 in city but way off in metro. Miami and Atlanta are 2 good examples of cities that don't seem huge until you consider metro.
Eta: Just noticed that Corpus Christi was 58 in big cities.
