Was discussing this on tRant and thought it'd be interesting to see what the MSB thought.

Assuming a 16 team playoff based on playoff committee rankings, this would be the week 1 schedule

Clemson vs Mich State
Oklahoma vs TCU
Georgia vs Notre Dame
Alabama vs Stanford
tOSU vs UCF
Wisconsin vs Washington
Auburn vs Miami
USC vs Penn State

All "eye test" teams in
All P5 conf champs in
Undefeated UCF in

I know people want to shite on the idea, but as a fan, why wouldn't anyone want to watch most, if not all of these games?

ETA: Sorry, used AP poll on initial post. Updated

So you want to add 4 more games to the college season? Not going to happen.

Remove conference championship games, and shorten the regular season back to 11 games and it's doable.

As it is, the National champion could potentially play 15 games.

There are 13 teams there that really shouldn't complain about not having a shot at the championship. That's why sixteen is too many. So is twelve. So is eight. Even six is probably too many.

Yep.

Or, as one poster mentioned in another thread, eliminate one current game and start the season a week earlier.

13 total games to 15.

It's not so much about teams having a complaint, but 16 teams completely removes all of the major complaints everyone has had about the committee's decisions the last 2 years.

That and as a fan, there is no reason we wouldn't want these extra quality games.

I don't want to see Ohio State playing September teams in December.

Pass.

I wouldn't pay to go see Ohio State play UCF, and that game isn't going to bring in ratings.

Really? An undefeated UCF team with Scott Frost coaching his last game?

I'd watch that.

Besides, UCF is the only non P5 school in the mix of 16.

Yes. That was the worst part about being #5. I thought they might pair us with UCF. Sucks to be Auburn.

Bull. shite.

Every college football fan in the country that didn't have a tie to Ohio State would be watching and pulling for Cinderella. That game would have spectacular ratings

Totally.

That's why matchups like Wisconsin/Western Michigan, Florida State/Houston, etc. dominated the ratings.

That's a terrible example

The way the storyline for UCF has played out this year and having it be a playoff game (not some meaningless bowl game) would draw viewers, imo.

tOSU fans would watch and everyone who hates tOSU would watch to pull for UCF

Either way, the other matchups justify having 16 teams. It would be a great weekend of football.

No they don't. We already get these types of matchups without the need for including a ridiculous number of playoff teams.

You remind me of the people who bitch about "too many bowl games".

It's more football. I'm not sure how this is a bad thing.
