I guess you’re goading me for a response?

I spoke to one of the 8th grade STM players tonight. Yes, STM did beat Runnels. Very good.

My point all along was that the SJV 8th grade team never garners any legit respect

Currently sitting at 4-1 in league play 11-3 overall — with victories over both Runnels and STM

IMO, SJV should end up ranked higher this year. Just my opinion

Your top 1-5?

IMO, SJV is above STM due to head-to-head

Glad to see my alma mater SJV getting some respect in here. We had some ok teams back in the day, but were never on the level of the bigger schools. I guess finally getting that gym has helped a bit.

No games this week. Next week will resume action and the home stretch with league games, the St Jude Tournament and the Elite 8 after that.

Updated Rankings 5th Addition. Previous Ranking in Parentheses:

1. OLOM (2) - Had another impressive performance against St. Jude with stifling defense. Play the best man to man defense in the league.

2. STM (4) - Still the hardest team to rank. When fully healthy, they are very impressive and defeated Aloysius by 12 recently.

3. CHS (3) - Only CSAA loss is to #1 Mercy. Tough matchup coming up against STM which could shakeup rankings.

4. Aloysius (1) - One of the most talented teams, but have lost only matchup to a top 5 team so far. Expect them to move up before the Elite 8.

5. SJV (5) - Having a great season with an 11-3 overall record. Win over STM was very impressive. Losses to a couple other top 5 teams have them at #5 for now.

6. St Theresa (6) - Holding on to the 6th spot.

7. St Jude (7) - They are a tough matchup on any given night.

8. St. Alphonsus (8) - Their Point Guard and Center combination is incredibly difficult to defend.

9. St. George Green (9) - Getting to the time of the season when you don't want to face this St. George team.

10. MBS (unranked) - Have a talented point guard surrounded by some very good shooters.

St. Theresa getting jobbed in the rankings again I see. Typical anti-Ascension Parish bias from the media elites.

I have no ties to STM. If that was the only game played, then yes SJV would be ahead, but there has been half a season played.

If you look at records vs top 5 (to my knowledge):
Mercy - Won vs STM, CHS, SJV (3-0)
STM - Won vs Aloysius - Lost to Mercy and SJV (1-2)
CHS - Won vs SJV - Lost to Mercy (1-1)
Aloysius - Lost to STM (0-1)
SJV - Won vs STM - Lost vs Mercy and CHS (1-2)

There are some big games next week which could shake some things up.

Just my rankings. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on 8th Grade Basketball Rankings.

GT

CHS won by 3. They beat out-manned St. Alphonsus by 3 also

Both games were played in the absolutely AWFUL St. Gerrard gym on Redemptorist’s campus.

That gym either needs a MAJOR upgrade or needs to be leveled.

The wood floor is terrible!
