We bought our house under a similar situation during Katrina. Would be a total dick move. Karma would be a real bitch. I don't know if they'd have any legal course of action.

Yes they will. And the rental market will really go up. I've been talking with coworkers who rent who are now in a real bind as the houses they were renting are gone.
