If your taxes are simple, the federal online version of turbotax is probably free for you. The service I use is $10 to file state. And it saves everything you input from the prior year, so in easy years when I take standard deduction, it takes about 10 min to complete my return. Also my computer doesn't have a disk drive

Yep. CD vs online vs free is a different topic altogether.

Sounds like Intuit has fixed the activation code problems users were having early on.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll spring for the Deluxe edition CD soon.
