Geo Vera Specialty insurance is who I have, from the people I talk to I have a pretty good deal. I pay $1,800 a year for $135k coverage and $50k contents I believe.

If he lives on a houseboat in the middle of the Gulf, that's not a bad deal at all.

But if he's in BR, I get over twice the coverage for about half the premium. And no hurricane deductible, just a straight $1000 deductible for everything.

Safeco was a Fortune 500 company and writing (and still is) in all 50 states.
They were purchased by Liberty Mutual a few years ago and will continue operating as Safeco under Liberty Mutual, while absorbing all of Liberty Mutual's independent companies (America First, Ohio Casualty, Eagle, etc). They are not a small company and there is no evidence that they'll leave the state IMO.
