I can tell you that I will never recommend Paychex. Payroll companies usually base their charges on the number of paychecks processed, but the costs also depend on the levels of service being provided.

Serious Tax Issue This still doesn't add up to me.... But here is my advice: Tax-Tiger

Tax relief companies are a scam. I've been dealing directly with the IRS.

If it is strictly income taxes then you a) lived way outside of your means and spent poorly and b) had a terrible divorce attorney or c) got caught cheating and didn't have a leg to stand on.

I take full responsibility for the place I find myself now. But to answer your question, I was not caught cheating. Wife wanted out and I said frick it. Didn't fight anything and I am paying the price.

But I am trying to move forward. And not having a DL makes that very difficult. I have accepted a new job that pays about $80k, but now that is in jeopardy bc of my DL situation.

Well, I hope it all works out for the best for you. You've taken the criticism well.

My guess is he didn't remit the withholding taxes he deducted from his employees' pay to the feds and the state. He kept that money to finance his business operations.

a couple questions regarding this issue:

1) any idea what the punishment for an employer who does something like this? prison, fines, etc.?

2) as an employee* in a situation such as that described above, i would not be liable for a penny of the money withheld from my check, but not paid to the government, correct?

*hypothetical, of course.

My understanding is if you are a W-2 employee and your employer has withheld, the employee can't be made liable for the employer's failure to remit.

Brother I chucked my $1,500 wedding band into the Chesapeake Bay, then got $2,000 in cash advances @ a strip club on my credit card, (they take a 15% service fee too ) then woke up in a sleazy Portsmouth motel.

After all that, I still had no place to live, no tangible assets, and $50K in IRS debt. And I couldn't get an OIC.

I made it through all that shite, you'll get through this shite too.

We'll, I owe the IRS over $200k, the state $65k, my DL is revoked. I have. $15/hr job. Without a DL, I don't have much hope.

That doesn't help me get my DL back. All states are reciprocal reporting now. And my kids are here. It's a damn shame that you can get 3 DWI's and still drive. But owe the state money, and you are SOL.
