I likely would’ve suggested from the gate saying “the age was disclosed and no cooling issues were found” and told them they are welcome to inspect for their own peace of mind but this won’t be considered negotiable for repairs/replacement.

Knowing it’s cold now, and you weren’t doing anything they might have just rolled with it. Now you are both out of pocket and back at the table for talks, unfortunately.
