At this point I'm pretty sure the guy just said some dumb shite based on doomer logic and instead of owning up to the dumb shite just dug in harder without realizing the more he types the dumber he appears.
Doomer logic?
It's an IRA sitting there that I don't even think about and haven't thought about until a few weeks ago. You are trying to play arm chair psychiatrist over this. I haven't done anything with it yet. Would you prefer me tell you some story how I plan to cash it out and go and buy a new corvette convertible and a few gold chains and some Oakley blades? Dug in? Its an IRA. Big deal. Come on man. There isn't much to this.

Moreso just trying to figure out why someone would pay a 10% penalty on funds needlessly when they could just dial back contributions. You would pay the same (or even less) in taxes and wouldn't have a penalty.
But then you said you wanted to keep contributing for the "tax benefits"
lol

Maybe you couldn't tell but I was being sarcastic. Yes, I like the tax benefits my current retirement contributions give me. The easy thing to do is just roll it over. Everyone knows that. Any discussion past that was just simple conjecture.
