As did we. We carry no debt - live comfortably - both stay busy with part time works - pretty much come and go as we please. Peace of mind/debt free was important to both of us. Insurance and property taxes irritates the fire out of me.

Cannot imagine us not staying busy in some capacities - the trickle of monies is nice and delays tapping monies set aside when those days inevitably cease. Have begun to move monies to the children and grandchildren.

Don't lose any sleep over monies - far from wealthy - more comfortable with a modest lifestyle.

Property taxes of $1,000/month? I would take that deal in a heartbeat

Take your entire nest egg and go to casino and bet it all on red.

Win and pay off house and keep entire nest egg with investment returns

Lose and you still have 10 years to earn it back since you originally didn’t plan retirement until then
