fwiw, this is a bad mindset to have.
There are free fake investing sites out there. Use that instead.
Sure thing, Mom.

Can someone learn how the slot machines truly work without putting a quarter in?
yes, start studying statistics. they're all just some sort of statistical payout with pretty pictures on top. once you understand statistics though you'll have a hard time putting money into the slot machine unless your stuck in vegas and sick of listening to conference speakers.
I'd say Individual stock picking is more like race horse selection than a slot machine though. In the fact that there is an actual event underlying and not a machines cold calculating probability.

If you’re fine with losing your money I don’t see the issue. You’ll have more motivation to learn when your dollar is on the line, and your emotions will be more realistic than doing paper trading. Paper trading is bullshite anyway. There’s no one panic selling doing paper trading, but people panic and sell in the real market all the time. You have to learn to manage your emotions and invest with your plan in real time and real money

It’s really not a hard concept.
And it’s why I’m asking questions here before making any decisions.

Check the futures tonight before bed time...again in the early morning..it may be on a big drop, there may not be time to trade and gain. You may be in the pre-market..remember in making an extended hours trade, you have to use a Limit order, a strike price....good luck to all of us.

I wish I had THE magical computer that put my order in first before anyone else. ;-)
When folks are making plays for a Tuesday , they buy their positions on Monday at 3:57pm (eastern time).

This. Those gains are going to be gone before the market opens in the morning.
