Once I get my companion pass for Southwest, can I cancel the credit cards?

I have had a longtime Rapid Rewards account as an add-on cardholder to my wife's account. This year, I played the game and got my own personal and business cards and got 100,000 points. I finally just hit 110,000 points, so I should be getting my own companion pass soon. The two cards together only coast a total of like $170/year, but I really have no reason to keep them (unless I get penalized for canceling them and lose my companion pass). I would obviously still have my add-on Southwest card from my wife with my own personal rapid Rewards account.

So can I cancel them and not lose my companion pass?

Yes, but you already paid for the annual fees. Keep cards for a year then cancel. Don’t give Chase a reason to make accusations of gaming the system.

Don’t cancel until the 13th month when the next annual fee comes up.

I haven’t see Chase do it, but don’t give them a reason to accuse you of churning. They claim they can withdraw pts but who knows.
