It's a constant flow of one country after the other making some concerning, and in some cases (e.g. India), confusing statements about crypto, sending FUD throughout the markets. It's been happening all month.

The US is talking about "taking action" to regulate crypto "to protect consumers and prevent fraud and abuse." Except this market prefers freedom from regulation, so their words are causing these drops, which is the opposite of protecting investors.

In short
Meddling governments: this is why we can't have nice things.

Im not panicking yet , but this looks like a slow BTC bleed off to Ethereum thats probably tied to what could be the Tether fraud . BTC goes so will all alts .

But the thought as of now is that ETH is safe, yes?

Exactly. People need to tell government to frick off. Especially these exchange owners, who are always anonymous anyway.

At what point do we call what were seeing a giant slow crash and very real possibility the ship is going down ? Its easy to say its because of FUD but day after day you wake up to lower totals than the previous day and its been happening for a month now one has to ask the question . Is it time to jump off the ship or will I go down will it ? I got lucky bought onto bitcoin at $400 and sold some at 17K so what Im playing with is profit but many aren't .

If you don't believe that this is the future, then yes.

Well, blockchain tech is only going to become more mainstream. That is inevitable, in my opinion. If you agree, I would grab a drink and a life vest.

I don't think it matters what we think. Electric cars are the future, but look at how long they were held down to appease other interests. Crypto won't be allowed to be the future if governments get their way. BTC will die eventually. Things like ETH with actual technical applications behind them have a shot, but they can still be manipulated if they start gaining too much steam.

Maybe not crypto but that's not what all of this is about man. Blockchain is very important here

That's what I was getting at. I think blockchain is definitely the future, but it's sounding as though governments are working to impede its progress.

I've reached my limit for amount I'm willing to lose, so I'm grabbing a drink and will be along for the ride.

The Coinbase tax estimator, I've heard from a few sources, is not very accurate. If you listen to the unchained podcast they have a recent episode with an accountant and tax attorney and they do a fairly thorough job going through the ends and outs
