Can anyone recall how a new console release has affected Microsoft and Sony?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t the big console sellers sell their consoles to consumers at a loss and generate profit over the console lifespan by collecting a form of license revenue per game sold, online gaming subscriptions, selling controllers/accessories?

I think I read Nintendo sells their console at cost and they are unique in that revenue structure.

That is the business model in a nutshell...plus Microsoft and Sony are such large corporations, I can't imagine these products make up a large percentage of their net revenue or margin. That being said, if sales news is good, people might start buying the stock.

For the answer to that question, check out AMD stock. Both systems will use that chip manufacturer.

The stock is growing for additional reasons of course, but it’s been a winner for me since charting up some hardcore gamers about what they are most looking forward to.

Yes, I saw that not too long ago. With both companies releasing a console I was not sure if that provided a bump
