I appreciate everyone who has posted so far. I have found that the company that manages my 401K basically offers a “fee only” service that is exactly what I am looking for. Trouble is, the cost is a one-time fee of 1% of “assets under management”. That happens to be an assload of money…about $30K in this case. Is that what I can expect to pay for this service?
ETA: Because if that is what it costs, I am not interested!

Sounds high. When I was researching, Timothy Financial came highly recommended. I was going down the path of using them until some major changes happened and we agreed it was best to delay.

I am contemplating retirement. What I am looking for is someone to look over my plan going forward and see if I am overlooking something or if it is even feasible.
I've seen over on Bogleheads several recommend the following which will do what you are looking for I believe. They are fee only and not based on assets etc.

I forgot about PlanVision, but they are recommended for the DIY crowd. They give you access to a website to enter your information then they review and discuss with you. To me it seemed more like "let's take a quick look at your numbers" and less of a comprehensive review. Of course, the price reflect that. They're both good, though.

Merrill Lynch made a pitch to me a while back. 1% was their fee. I didn't sign up.

Look for an advisor with an RICP designation.

We filled out paperwork to include all of our accounts and they did a monte carlo simulation for a basic fee.
Wait, they charged a fee for a Monte Carlo simulation. Wow!
