tirebiter, do you know if HVAC prices have gone down in Atlanta? I'm about ready to get a new system.

I haven't noticed much decrease, mostly due to being pushed into HE units by the govt, good luck making your money back over the cost of a conventional unit if they are even available anymore.

We replaced the downstairs unit in 2007 with a 3-ton high efficiency unit. We replaced the upstairs unit with a HE unit summer 2010, prices had not gone down at all...BUT...you could get a $1500 tax credit (not deduction) for real govt fiat currency by meeting efficiency guidelines, so that was a $1500 savings and the new Trane controller is topnotch, it even has a humidity control on it. I can't help it, I am value oriented.

I can give you a guy's name and number if you want to get a bid from him, he does quality work and is responsive,he has done work for us ~ 15-years with no problems. Between seasons is the best time to get a new unit as they charge $$$$ during peak hot/cold.

Eh. You'll have to really rake them over the coals in the negotiations. Use your gravelly voice.

Had a local cab guy redo the bath cabs last spring, BR. Just gotta quote for a large custom dining cab. He is busy and his prices have not gone down.....
