MTCH, NVDA, and MASI. I bought a little bit of all three.

I'm curious....how is this different than reddit's /wsb?

You are talking about Stock Advisor, right? I think I signed up about the same time you did where the first "NEW REC" I received was ABNB last Thursday.
I received the email today at 12:05 for the 5 Best Buys Now. As you know, the names aren't in the email and you have to click the button for the names and the page won't load.
I am with you, I don't think that section of the website should crash on Thursdays when they release the names.
Not sure that people rush out to buy these 5 names like they did with ABNB. MASI seems like the pick that people gravitated to based on the spike in stock activity at 1 eastern and it spiked a little over 4% and perhaps MTCH. The other three names did not have a spike in volume. Maybe people jumped on MASI since it had the smallest market cap by a wide margin - basically a third of MTCH and not even 1/16th the market cap of NFLX.
I am focused on next week when they release the NEW RECOMMENDATION - one name. None of those 5 names today were mentioned by the news services I have. They have mentioned the new recs (one name doled out on Thursday) lately. I recall them saying LMND and ABNB.

MF is better for more long term holds right? What's the intent with their realease of 5 stocks...to get people to bump it up, so others can sell with nice profit or do they tend to actually workout long term?

Motley Fool suggests you hold their names for at least 3-5 years. From what I gather, Stock Advisor is their most popular alert service with 700,000 subs (according to them).
Today Stock Advisor sent out their 5 Best Buys Now, next week they will have their Buy this one stock now alert, and then alternate with these two alerts every Thursday.
They have a long list of names that they have suggested that have worked out very nicely. Some people knock them for the losers they have picked, like Blockbuster. They aren't all gonna be winners. If they were, then they would charge a lot more than $199/year. They also picked NFLX a long time ago and that pick has worked out well.
I am with TDsngumbo that the site shouldn't crash when the names are released at noon central. It doesn't seem like that should happen or that they would've found a fix for that a long time ago.

Considering how much money they make, there is no good excuse for not having the server capacity to handle the flood of customers trying to access their site all at once...which leads me to believe that it is intentional.

I agree with you. I think it is intentional.
TDsngumbo mentioned last week that he got the email for the New Rec at ~ 12:43 and someone else here mentioned they got it like 3 minutes after that.
I also subscribed to their Rule Breakers alert service. Their release time is 10 central Thursdays instead of noon. They alternate weeks with their one stock Buy now. I received the email at 10:01. The name peaked a few minutes after to $168.00 and traded lower the rest of the day to close at $159.55.
It is higher in the after hours, but still off today's peak by a few points.
There isn't a pattern, but I noticed their prior Rule Breakers rec peaked within the first 15 minutes and traded lower the rest of the day --just like today. That peak on January 14th also happened to be the stock's all time high and is now 24% lower two weeks later
The Rule Breakers name before that was released on Dec 17th and traded 73% higher from that day's high just three trading sessions later.
