I'm partial to small caps if you can take the volatility.

Check out:
VXF - Small/Mid blend ETF- consists of pretty much all companies not in the S&P 500
IJF - Small cap ETF
I really like ETFs. They reduce my risk as compared to individual stocks and reduce volatility but still allow me to play some of these Small/Mid-Cap stocks that historically perform great coming out of a recession. I was a little worried about them being hit hardest by the credit crunch, but that hasn't seemed to be the case. I think the credit probably hits mom and pop stores hardest, not relatively larger "small-cap" publicly traded companies.
Those are the one's I'm banking on. Been doing great with this little rally. The one large-cap value fund I picked a while back thinking it was just beat-down has continued to underperform: IWD.

Large caps trading at very low prices is the best way to go in this market.
