Just the thought of logging off SR, heading over to the United States Post Office, and picking up an ounce of BTC's (pun) seems pretty sound to me
Wiki- so the idea of moving to computer not online via flash is fine, just not long term on flash correct

That was one of your 3 MAJOR selling points for years.

About this time last year wiki started one of his threads advising posters to buy bitcoin. So I did some googling just to learn more about what motivated a typical bitcoinista to be involved with btc.
One search that taught me all I needed to know brought me to a btc message board.
Most of the discussion on it involved how bitcoin "sticks it to the Man." Not making money, mind you, just how btc circumvented laws and central banks.
One memorable quote was one guy who wrote, "I don't care if I lose all my money as long as I know I'm pissing Bernake off."
It's a cult, a weird type of religion that attracts the terminally paranoid conspiracy theorists. It's the same type who has traditional put their hopes in gold as a way to "punish" banks, central banks and governments.
I posted at that time that bitcoin might be around for a while just because religions and cults die hard.
Bitcoin is a virtual gold. Ask your friend his thoughts on gold and see what happens.

It was. But that language is changing from the big time proponents. Seems they realize once they have a nice little stash in order for capitalism to work they need to remove that stigma and replace it with secure. Smart

The wallet. I'm assuming its a program that can be transferred from one device to another, the vehicle between devices being a flash drive

And that's what makes him shady. He says one thing and then in 6 months, whenever it suits him, he changes his position and nobody notices. At least the dumb people don't. They eat it up like heroin in Phillip Seymour Hoffman's arm

The problem is that most of the bitcoin haters on this site refuse to acknowledge that bitcoin can be used anonymously.
I don't argue that the purpose of bitcoin is anonymous transactions. But I do acknowledge that it can be used in that matter if so desired.

And FWIW, I have referred to it as "mostly anonymous" since my 2nd bitcoin thread, although that was early in my understanding of the technology and I understand now that wasn't the proper terminology. But for at least a year I have been using the term "pseudonymous."

wiki - you got a good beginner guide you can point me to? I want a get started just to educate myself on it. I've been somewhat of a doubter/too lazy to care about it... but enough people are adopting it that i need to quit procrastinating.

Really, because I remember your BIG selling point as being anonymous. Then it changed. It always changes. That's what makes you so disingenuous. We may start to have an inkling of respect for you if you chose a side and stuck to it.

And for all that time you've been using the word incorrectly.

Bitcoin Forensics anyone?
What about that thread?
I started that thread as a response to claims that bitcoin couldn't be used anonymously.
Still to this day people deny that. The whole "anonymity" issue on this site has been quite sad. So many of y'all key on it and it's really not a big deal. And the funny thing is that people harp on me for whatever they perceive as me being disingenuous but they have very little to no understanding of the technology.
Can it be used anonymously? Yes.
Is it necessary to use it anonymously? No.
Was that Satoshi Nakamoto's purpose for creating bitcoin? He never said so in any of his writings.
I don't understand why this is such a touchy issue on this site.
I suspect its because they have nothing else to fall back on after they have been proven wrong over and over again.

Were we wrong when we said it was a poor storage of value?
What about when we said it was too volatile for people to use?
What about when we said it wasn't easily used for goods and services?
Any of those wrong? I didn't think so.

Maybe. I suppose that depends on an individuals definition of a store of value. Many people would appreciate multi-thousand percent increases in their chosen store of value. You may not.
quote:

Yes. People are using it. Quite a bit actually. BitPay and Coinbase do a very healthy amount of merchant processing.

Yes. See above.
