In certain areas, sure. I mean my dad is retired military Officer and also retired federal employee, but he’s not rich. There’s a good bit around where I lived and you can work the system just fine.

But I don’t think many of them enjoy their careers and are watching the clock quite a bit. They concentrate on times and dates and plans to get that pension over being happy and earning more salary, salary that they could then go and invest. I think the biggest benefit is the ‘forced’ savings that taking a lower salary and higher pension forced into that group, opposed to higher salaries with self investing and your percent of salary invested being personal choice.

Certainly there’s more than one way to do it and can be multiple right paths.
