Don't do that without checking into it. It may require you sign up for a service that you then have to cancel. This guy says it is a scam.

annualcreditreport.com is how you get the free reports mandated by federal law.

The FTC warns:

quote:

Other websites that claim to offer “free credit reports,” “free credit scores,” or “free credit monitoring” are not part of the legally mandated free annual credit report program.

In some cases, the “free” product comes with strings attached. For example, some sites sign you up for a supposedly “free” service that converts to one you have to pay for after a trial period. If you don’t cancel during the trial period, you may be unwittingly agreeing to let the company start charging fees to your credit card.

I recently obtained my credit report from freecreditreport.com to confirm a suspected mistake on a report due to negligence from my bank. The bank promised to fix the problem, but as expected it hasn't been fixed yet. How do I obtain another report? So I have to pay for a service since I used up my free one last month?

All three credit reporting agencies are required to give you one free report per year, there is no pay first and cancel later nonsense, but you will not get your numerical score, only the actual listing and status of all your accounts, things like how many late payments etc.

What if you get the report, find a discrepancy, file a dispute, and now want to see report again to see if dispute has been resolved?

When the investigation is complete, the credit reporting company must give you the results in writing and a free copy of your report if the dispute results in a change. This free report does not count as your annual free report

Thanks. Love that I have to go through all this hassle when the bank has acknowledged that this is 100% their fault and apologized for it. Unfortunately, their apologies are not fixing the problem.

I remember your original post regarding the issue at hand. Was one of the goofiest things I've ever heard regarding a financial transaction. Sorry that it hasn't been resolved yet.

#1 is the guy who gave a contractor his Home Depot card to buy supplies...then was miffed as to why the guy used the card irresponsibly.

Goofy is putting it lightly. Here I am over a month later with a credit score that dropped 75 points (mine and my husbands) with no resolution in sight. Putting off investment property closing because of this BS. I am totally at a loss.
