Just do some shopping around. It's inevitable - you're going to pay more, but you should be able to find something more reasonable.

I agree if you think people in higher risk areas have to pay more. I tend to think the entire gulf coast has higher risk and should therefore have to pay higher premiums.
Homeowners insurance isn't subsidized by the federal government like flood insurance is. If you're in a higher risk area, your homeowner rates are going to be more expensive. Homeowner rates in coastal parishes is a lot more expensive than central or north LA. Closer to the gulf you are, generally the higher your premium will be.

Its not inevitable. Its just accepted. To the point of getting mad if someone says anything. What a joke.

-Utah’s cost of living is below the national average and its quality of life ranks fourth in the nation — a pretty good combo! It’s considered low-risk for damaging weather, with homeowner’s insurance policies averaging about $706 per year. Homeowners who live near seismic fault lines might need to purchase separate earthquake insurance, because that’s not covered by most policies sold in Utah.

Do you live in Utah, or are you saying you are going to move there over a few hundred dollars?

Also, when was your house insured for 200k (originally)? No one is defending insurance companies, but people are trying to provide some perspective.

As much as you hate to hear this, the insurance companies don’t give a shite about you individually. Not a single person will blink when you cancel your policy. I understand your frustration, but I’d you can’t find cheaper coverage, your options are to self insure or pay. No amount of huffing and puffing will change that. You hold zero power besides declining the services offered.

Just like the CA forest fires caused increases for all the hurricane gap years.
All insurance companies are full of it.

I'm currently in Louisiana.

$700 in another state vs the $4000 it is here goes into the "significant considerations" box alongside no state income tax, etc, etc.

Originally insured 2 years ago for HALF. We are definitely canceling based off the increase and the reasons provided by the insurer (NONE).

Everyone sitting around thinking they don't individually make a difference is how elections are won and lost. Of course I know the CEO of Safeco isn't calling me tomorrow with an apology and 1/2 off quote. Is that reason enough to do nothing and keep quiet?

Mine went up 42% in July and it was still the lowest cost option for the remaining companies that write here in LA

Just tried quoting on safeco on a home south of I-12 in Ponchatoula. It was a no go.

But if every insurance agency we call says the same thing....then what? Cuss them over the phone then pay whatever they want?

Yeah as an agent, you sound like a great client. I’d probably just hang up on you too. Our commissions on single policies aren’t worth putting up with that!

Oh I'm very concerned about your opinion regarding wildly inflated premiums.

Oh I don’t care. You think we get a discount on our own? We pay the same shite you do. Commission is typically 10-15% depending on the carrier. Sure inflated premiums if that’s what you want to call it, but when the entire states been discombobulated the last three years yeah insurers are going to raise their rates. I deal with the same shite as a consumer too my man.

I forget the specifics, but they said something about shopping for quotes in March when independent markets open themselves to new clients. For anyone not yet so beat down by life that they are interested in pursuing solutions to problems. March.

Then come at me as someone who knows what I'm saying is true. Even if you don't like the way I say it.

"I'm an agent. If you have a problem, I'd hang up on you." What the hell does that post accomplish?

Shites out of control.

“Come at Me”. Man, you got some anger issues my friend. It’s ok.

Yea I do feel your pain and understand where you’re coming from, but if you’re going to “just yell at someone and pay their premium” no matter what they say then what’s the point. Maybe in my 20’s or 30’s I’d take that shite but way too old for that now.

Jesus. You really are that hung up on my delivery....

How about this:

Why would you commence our talk with such a negative sentiment?

or

Why approach our discussion with, "I'm an agent and Gator don't play no shite"

Are you knowingly handing out policies that fully double cover dwellings?

Do you blow smoke up your clients asses with such terms as inflation, materials, and labor?

Because that's what you are defending right now. By being just another voice telling me to calm down and lube up because there's nothing I can do.

Not too real and I never claimed to be Mr insurance. You’re just not level headed and smart enough to understand it costs more to insure homes along the gulf coast (esp after 4-5 large storms the past three years) along with the Econ 101 concept of supply and demand. Have a good night and good luck with your issue. I’d just move if I were you. Or better yet just file a suit with the insurance commissioner for collusion with the insurance companies. That should get you somewhere as well.

I'm going to say this one last time. I was told our coverage doubled DUE TO MATERIALS AND LABOR.

I DIDNT SAY IT. I DISPUTED IT.

Have a wonderful night, crook.
