My wife works at a large corp and we were paying $180/month this year for our medical and prescription coverage for a really good plan. Went to get us signed up for 2017 and it's now $440/month

WTF could possibly make that ok? I read some articles that said HMSA could go up 35% or 43% in some cases and the state insurance commish said as long as it isn't excessive it's ok. But to go up nearly 250%?

Anyone else have this craziness?

ETA: My wife went to HR today and this is what she emailed me: "they were caught by surprise too and are digging deeper right now to find out some answers. Everyone is shocked it went up by 250-300%...some salary people are taking pay cuts she said including herself.."

Wow! Isn't Obamacare grand?

It's great isn't it?

You can keep your doctor too.
Once Hillary is in she will complete the implosion of health care and all Health Insurance companies to force a single payor system. You know, because it's been shown to work so well everywhere else it's been done.

8 years to set back race relations and destroy health care. Yay!

Edit: I got the notice they are canceling my plan this year so I'll have to find another.

well someone's gotta pay for the 47% who dont pay taxes in this country to get health care. I dont know all these increases everyone is talking about bc my blue cross blue shield plan for me and the lady only went up $10 this year when it was time for our increase but I did see lots of people seeing significant bumps. The thing that cracks me up is the architect of obamacare is on video saying its the fault of the voters who were too ignorant to deny it that it even exists.

The entire idea our government has that insurance companies should be covering pre-existing conditions is just proof that government doesn't get the purpose of insurance. Insurance is an instrument used to hedge against a risk of loss. If the loss has already happened in the form of someone having a condition, then "insurance" is just free money. That's why you can buy insurance before you wreck your car but oddly enough can't buy insurance after you wreck your car.

There has to be another way to insure people that are deemed high risk but what we put in place was comical and hurt everyone. I've been fortunate enough it hasnt hit me yet.

I'm disgusted, this is gouging. I wonder is this from her employer or the insurance company or both?

We can switch to Kaiser and the price is about $200/month but we really dislike them and the doctors as we had it a couple years ago when we were buying coverage on our own.

I am not a Trump voter/supporter (Hawaii is already in the bag for Hilldog) but I hope he wins over her. I don't know if he can really fix it too quickly but we know where we're going with the libtards.

Not I, but I get your point. Although, even then idiots that voted the 2nd time (I can sort of get the 1st) have to be pissed as well, right?

This can't help sHill 10 days before the election with independents.

Sho Nuff, ill say this man insurance is beeyotch man but if anything ever happens god forbid you will be so thankful. My mother spent 10 days in the ICU and the total bill was over $300,000. She obviously still owed I wanna say $50k or so out of pocket at the end but they saved her life and the insurance paid the rest. Here's where people dont get that trump isnt being racist, we are paying for illegals to use our hospitals and go to our schools. Insurance has to rise on people like you and I who can pay to offset when an illegal goes to a hospital to have a baby and cannot pay her bill. Its not racist to say enough of the illegals, its just being prudent.

Oh I know and I want to have insurance but once you start paying so much that you could possibly afford a one-time thing it gets ridiculous. We're both healthy and she's only 35 yo. I'm 41.

I agree with a lot of things Trump said, I just think he's a clown. I don't think he's a racist. I'll be happy to call him President over that criminal though. She will continue on with Obama's shitty policies and be even worse on others.

Ancient if you dont mind me asking how old are you, whats your deductible and what state are you in? Because Im 36, fiancee is a little younger, and I insure both of us blue cross blue shield texas for a little over $500/mo total but we have the biggest deductible they allow $5k which is silly bc whatever few dr visits we have annually we basically pay for but it keeps our payments low.

Ridiculous. Is this on your own or through an employer? Ours is through an employer so I assume it would be way higher without but $440 a month with is insane.

sure, $5k ain't shite. It's through an employer which means it's much more than that. But a 250% increase is beyond bullshite.

Wife and I are early 30s with two kiddos under 3. Just got notice our high deductible ($6500 per person) plan will rise 64% to nearly $1100 a month. Makes me beyond angry

Let me ask again, is this through your employers or ndividual health care accounts? If individual, then understand what I'm saying about ours being $440 with her employer paying a large portion.

I don't think the deductible is bad from what I remember $500 or less. Like I said it's a good plan but shite I remember having a good plan up until ACA and I didn't pay much at all OOP when I was W2.

A couple years ago we were paying about $300/month for a basic plan through Kaiser as I'm 1099 as well. Deductible was shite like $6k or something. Wife got the W2 job in 2015 and we got better plans with low deductibles through her employer for like $150/month. Then it went to $220 for 2016. Now $440 for 2017.

Wow, how are people supposed to care for their families if they're not making a pretty good amount of money? $1,100 a month plus you have to pay $6,500 as a deductible? Ridiculous. Thankfully we make good money but still, I can't fathom a 250% increase of our monthly premium. It's just stupid. 64% is bad enough, but I'd happily take that right about now.
