Ultimately, all work is prostitution.
You are paid to render service to some entity.

Take the money, and don’t drop the soap.

Will need more info. What is your current salary and does your wife work?

Where are you based and do you have CPA?

13 years at only a senior accountant level is kind of crazy.

13 years into my career and I’ve hit a plateau it seems at my current level as a senior accountant.

No offense, but what the hell?

I was in a similar situation, having worked in IT for over 10 years, hoping for a higher salary that never came. Feeling stuck, I finally started exploring other career opportunities two months ago. To my surprise, I found many options that offered better pay and growth potential. Now, I'm working as an operations manager, and the change has been positive, with a significantly larger salary and new challenges.

Taking on a new role, especially one like SEC reporting manager, can be daunting but also rewarding, especially if it financially benefits your family and offers a path to advance like becoming a controller. If the financial uplift and career progression are important, it might be worth considering.
