Anyone tried one of these? Apparently they'll soon offer 3 new programs in Data Analytics, Project Management, and User Experience Designer in addition to the one program they already offer which is IT Support Specialist. These are 100% online, cost $50 a month, and supposedly take 3-6 months to complete. They claim to be worth the equivalent of a 4 year degree, but I find that hard to believe.

Google has also established a hiring pipeline with several big-name employers, including Cognizant, Hulu, Kforce and Sprint. Upon completion, you’ll have the option to share your certificate with those employers.

I'm curious to hear about anyone's experience with these programs. I may be interested in taking one, but I'm really interested in how companies like Google getting involved in education could affect current tuition prices and change the education landscape.

i would think that they are 100% focusing on the 2-3 elective courses that specialize in that area.

So you pay what ever a 4 year degree costs to tak a plethera of general courses and 3 course the focus on DA, or PM, or UED, this 300 ucks coud very well be worth more than the full tuition for those 3 classes. if you know what i mean. And that pipeline is what makes it possible. Basically saying we told these companies that someone with our certificate will be proficient in "this topic" and who give a shite about philosophy and masscom 2000, and music appreciation.

I would think that if you're getting 4 years of coursework in 3-6 months it would be pretty time consuming but I don't know. I'm sure you're not taking English and history classes either so maybe that's why

Google will honor these courses as 4 year degrees. They are also trying to get other companies in the industry to do the same. Not sure how they will stand up outside of participating companies.
