Japan opens in 5 hours, wait till then. BOJ must be so pissed at S&P for downgrading after they just intervened not a week ago. Not that I think its really going to have any kind of major effect, nonetheless, it will probably reverse whatever BOJ accomplished last week in their intervention.

The Mid East stock markets are down 3-7% (they are closed on Fridays & Saturdays, but open on Sundays, except for Saudi Arabia). However they were closed on Thursday by the time the US markets went down so much so some of the Sunday market losses may just be catching up with those US losses.

I'm just speaking generally here, and I've done zero analysis on this other than anecdotal observation and CFA text reading, but I don't think futures are very useful as far as showing what the market will do during the trading day. I'm not trying to implicate you or anything, just making a comment.

Futures are an excellent predictor of how the market will open but not for how it will close for the day.

Certainly, but to borrow a phrase, "it's not how you start, it's how you finish." I feel like I see large moves in futures, in either way, reversed almost immediately after the open all of the time. On another note:

The dollar fell to 77.70 yen, from 78.40 on Aug. 5.

Related: This Starbucks I have been posting up at poaching internet off of is just filled with rich Asians (I don't want to say Japanese or Korean or Chinese or Vietnamese because I have no clue) all the time on Sundays. No idea why, not anywhere near that area of the city, this is pretty much the definition of white suburbia.

ETA: And white soccer moms apparently think that the large blue box with the wheelchair in the middle of it on the ground means "leave my car running and go inside for 5 minutes."

Right now I'm at an boutique advisory/investment bank as a full-time intern, and will be interviewing for the full-time position some time this month. I also have an interview with Chevron in late August/September, and I have two interviews for positions in NYC, but they're kind of up in the air in terms of timing. Athantos tried to hook me up with an interview at his spot, which would have been pretty much a dream job, but they haven't called me back. But, either the current place or Chevron would be great jobs and be on line with what I want for my career path, so I'm not complaining. Its a step by step process.

P.S. -- And btw, you're all wrong. A friend of mine who is a Bilderberg Group insider told me that it's already been decided that the Dow's close on Monday will be at 11,398.75.

Are these the same assholes who were pinning the price of Apple's stock a few weeks back?

Yep. Same ones. They are also using alien technology on Steve Jobs's medical condition.

Are the Rothschild's involved in that? If so, let me know, they are clients of my current firm.

He did close his fund, that's a lot of cash "on the sidelines" now.
