That's awesome. I've read some CC companies may flag your card and/or shut you down and take points away. $600 per month shouldn't be a big deal, right?
I'm about to order the Bluebird card today and figured I could just alternate months with my Visa/AMEX, so $600 every other month shouldn't be an issue.
Does it also work for student loans? I don't do checks with that, just auto-pay online

Yep. I wouldn't worry about $600 a month. There are guys that put thousands and thousands per month on theirs. In less than a week I've bought 4 VR's for $500 each and paid the house this month with it. I haven't got ballsy enough to pay my CC bill though.
edit-to be clear I have not mailed my check yet. I'm waiting for everything to come in but I have purchased the VR's and it's just sitting there.

Yes, I've done student loans as well.
With those you search for the company on the bluebird site. Once it finds it you add as payee and enter your payee account # info.
It will electronically send those payments.

sweet. thanks.

Just opened an account on bluebird and card will be here in 1-2 weeks

Was actually just reading about that. Seems too risky, but tempting. Think about it, if you charge normal bills that cost you around a few grand a month, then pay with bluebird when your CC bill is due, easily could be like 10,000 points a month

For me, that's like a free flight or hotel room per month. I would feel like a fraud doing something like that

I earn about 10,000 points a month easy.
I don't even use my fiancee's bluebird to do it either.
Gonna fly like a boss on our honeymoon.

Care to share your method? Is a lot of that multiplied on a specific card?

using your bluebird? Do you pay your CC bill with BB?
Posted on 2/6/14 at 3:24 pm to htownjeep
Well, I'm a high spender. Nothing doesn't go on my credit card that can go on there.
With rent and such, that's easily 5k a month right there. The rest I can do through Bluebird.
I also rarely if ever, get 1 point per dollar if I can help it. The only time I get 1 point per dollar is with my Amex SPG.
I definitely pay my CC bill with BB. I just never Use Card A; Load BB; Pay Card A.
I do something like: Use Card A, Load, Use Card B, Load, Pay off Card D, Use Card C, Load, Pay Card A; etc. in all kinds of amounts $100, $250, $500, whatver.

If he's using BB, it's pretty easy to get that much, depending on how much you spend.
For me, I have around 1,000 a month I write in checks for rent, loans and entergy. If I use VRs for that to pay, that's 1,000 in Southwest rewards ASAP.
I usually have another 1K in expenses, so if my CC bill is 2K/month and I go buy 2K to reload BB and pay off my CC Bill, I'm at 4K rewards just like that. So basically, I'd be tripling my rewards per month.

Ya, I try to abuse my Freedom 5X categories and for example, we just bought a bunch of curtains and curtain rods off Amazon. I knew we were going to do that, so I stopped by OfficeMax and bought about $130 worth of Amazon gift cards with my Chase Ink Plus with no added fees.
I got 650 points off that transaction.

How many CCs do you have?

Chase Freedom
Chase CSP
Chase Ink Plus
Amex SPG
Barclay's World Arrival
Capital One Venture (calling to downgrade today actually)
Amex Clear and USAA card I don't use except keeping active from 10 years ago when I was in college.
About to add United Mileage Plus soon for 50,000 points on United.
The Chase cards and United are for my Honeymoon. My fiancee also has a Chase Freedom and Chase CSP I am an authorized user on and carry for these purposes as well.

Not as many as I thought
but still plenty for me
How many of those have an annual fee, though?
As of now, I have a hotel card, airline card and cash back card. I want to add, but not sure what to get. Maybe I'm just bored and am looking for excitement through CCs

I need to get on the BB thing... I am disciplined enough to rotate funds around and maximize those rewards.

Also, and this question is for anyone, but my GF is having trouble getting a CC.
She's in graduate school and only income is loan money with no job. She's applied for some low-level cards and has gotten rejected. Her credit score is very low because most of her stuff is still in her parents name.
Any recommendations? Should I add her on one of my cards to help get her score up, or will that mess with my utilization ratio and therefore damage my credit score?
I'm at like a 760 now and don't want anything to mess it up

All of them except Amex Clear, USAA and Freedom.
I'm downgrading Venture today as the annual fee just hit my statement so that will remove that.
I'll downgrade probably my CSP and keep my Ink Plus at the fee version so I can transfer UR points to airlines.
This leaves me with Ink ($95); (Amex SPG $65) and Barclay's ($89). Haven't decided if I'll keep Barclay's after the first year or not though. I got it because I have two weddings in Boston back to back weekends in May which would have cost $2,000. With my CC maneuvers, it will be half that, and I could have got it essentially free but I want to save some CC apps for down the line for Hyatt and Intercontinental (IHG).

That's a bummer. CC companies are starting to again allow a spouse to list the household income for card purposes, but since she isn't your spouse, she can't do that.
Authorized user isn't supposed to show up on her credit report, but there seems to be confusion there or not always the case. Instead she'd have to be a "joint" user but I've never tried that.
Not having income is the real killer for her. She can't get a Capital One Secured Credit card or something similar? Also, if she happens to have access to USAA go that route first, she'll be golden there. There are a few "Student Credit Cards" around she should shoot for.

I directly pay my CC from BB as well, and actually just used BB to pay my Amex today because Teddy said I could. If he's wrong, I'm going to type vulgarities
.
I use BB checks to pay for random things as well. You can order 50 free right now.
I probably have done on average about $3k/month on Bluebird recently, but will likely start doing around $10k/month in the coming months.
