First Premier Bank, Orchard Bank and Credit One credit cards
Get the 300 credit limits from all 3 and in 3-6mnths you will be over a 700 score with no missed payments
And your best option is FHA if you were thinking of a 2nd mortgage
Rates still at 3.5%

So someone has 30K in the bank, and never had a credit card til this year??
Never had a car note??
Your bank should've been throwing credit cards at you for years...
Just start charging everything on a several different cards. Maybe even keeping a balance on the card with the low promotional rate.
Should not be difficult at all to have a 730+ FICO score with very minimal debt.
Care to share what your current score is?

God, so much wrong information in here.
Im not the smartest guy in the room, but there's a handful of responses that are so wrong. Specifically to what banks will do for mortgages based on how much you have with their bank. You know that's two completely different heads of the bank.
OP, please find another lender to discuss.

Solid income level with 3yrs of work history is very important as well.

I didn't get a credit card until I was ~25 (my dad was a staunch believer in the Dave Ramsey "debt is the devil" model and it terrified me of credit for way too long).
I ended up having to takeout a Certificate of Deposit for $1K to get my score up high enough to get a credit card. Then I got one with some miserable $500 limit I think, paid it off every month and hassled them every 6 months to raise my limit.
Now I'm good to go, but it is annoying if you've always abided by the cash-first philosophy. You get fricked because of the system we have. Now I put everything on my cards and make tons of points and miles off em, but it was something I legit had to work at for a couple years before it was self-sufficient.

Since the subject is brought up, how do I increase by score. I have averaged around 770-780 for years. How do I get it over 800? Have several credit cards but no balances. No car note. Paying ahead on mortgage.
