Anyone taken the CPA exam recently? (BEC)

I am on my 2nd section (passed AUD in May), which I will take next Saturday. Feel good about most of it, but god, cost accounting sucks. I work in industry, but never a manufacturing environment and while logical, it's so damn boring (it's accounting, right?)
Anyway, if anyone has taken BEC lately, how much did you feel was theory v. computations? And just how much cost accounting did you see? Any legitimate answers are appreciated!

BEC sucks
My bec exam threw me for a loop - the first 15 questions I was not ready for.
Computation was 65% of the exam.

I took it Thursday. It's more cost accounting and economics than anything else. I'd definitely know about IRR, break even, NPV, WACC, and cash conversion cycle. On the economics side I'd definitely know the supply/demand charts and what caused them to change. Also, know about foreign currency
I used Becker to study. The formulas you need to know are the ones asked about alot on the hw. 15% is written which I don't really think you can prepare for. I didnt think my questions were bad though.
Good luck

Other than Cost Accounting, BEC seems to be right up my alley. I'm taking FAR at the end of the month.

Good luck! I am saving FAR for last, as it appears to be the most difficult and I want to spend as much time studying for it as I can.
I feel really good about Econ and I do great at theory, just this stupid Cost makes my head hurt. I passed AUD with an 88, but definitely don't feel as good going into BEC. Guess we'll see.
Thanks for the answers, I forgot I wasn't on the OT!

You should be fine if you are comfortable with the cost flows through RM-WIP-FG.

Supply up and demand down.
I passed it last summer and thought it was the easiest of the 4 exams.
Good luck

Haha, thanks dumpster! I studied all day and got a 90% on the online sim test. Econ is a breeze, and I think I made a breakthrough with cost. I think the materials really over complicate it. I have another week. It'll be fine. Right? I do find that this seems to be the section that people think they bombed, to find out they made a 99.9%! I don't ever intend to go into public accounting, I just want the pay raise. I have been doing corporate tax since 2005 and it just seemed like I needed some goals.

Just took FAR. I didn't find the sims to be as mind blowing as everyone says, but I guess I won't know for sure till I get my score. The wait till August will suck. I'm trying to jam REG and BEC in before September.

I passed FAR in May and it sucked. Glad its over. Studying for AUD now and it seems a lot more manageable...

AUD was mainly knowing the difference between Audits, Reviews, Compilations, etc. I thought it was very "easy", but I tend to be really good at memorization. Good luck!

Yeah... I just finished the AUD review material and am starting to hammer out the Wiley Test Bank. So far it seems like you mainly need to know when it is appropriate to issue unmodified, modified, disclaimer of opinion or adverse reports. We'll see though I still have a ton of multiple choice to do.

AUD and REG should be relatively easy for me. Hurray being a government auditor lol.

So the non-accounting parts are right up your alley? Sure you want to be a CPA?

Honestly, I thought BEC was, by far and away, the easiest of the 4 sections of the CPA exam. I passed all of the parts on the first attempt by using Becker. I scored like an 85 or 87 on BEC. Not trying to pat myself on the back, just trying to let you know that you shouldn't worry too much about BEC unless you aren't good with all of the other subject matter like IT, etc. If you put in a little bit of time this part is not difficult at all IMHO.

Im honestly most worried about REG.

I thought REG and/or Audit was easiest. BEC was my lowest score(75). I passed all 4 on first attempt too using Yaegar. I took BEC first so not knowing what to expect may have been why it was the lowest score.

I took FAR first because most people I have talked to said it was the most difficult part for them. It was for me as well. So, I went with the mindset that I want to get the hard one out of the way first since you start losing parts after 18 months after you pass the first one. Figured I could get thru the other 3 in 18 months easier than I could get thru 3 parts that included FAR in 18 months.
