you never know, I've posted jobs multiple times that I had no intention of filling, just wanted to see what came in from competitors. Other times you're not really looking, but if a superstar resume came in you'd make a move.
If I may offer one piece of advice, in whatever industry you're in, think forward. Folks with generic training/experience are a dime a dozen and it will continue to get worse as colleges crank out more every year. Learn the challenges facing the industry and OWN them. Read, go to seminars, take extra classes, find a mentor, etc. Also have plans B & C ready, and D in development.

High end residential construction, and I've had to teach myself everything I know. I had never built as much as a bird house before this. Now I'm in charge of about $7M worth of construction and any wrong move I make could basically sink the company.

Anybody have any experience with energy brokering/sales? Apparently there's some good money to be made in that field.
