so you post no blame on Jefferson for not snapping the ball at the end and then when the ball was snapped for just falling on it and failing to at least try to make a play with 0:00 showing on clock.
Why make a play when THIRTEEN players are swarming you? Did you not see all the orange shirts about to eat him alive as he went to get the ball?
P.S. Odds are very, very low for completing a play for positive yardage against a team with 13 defenders. 13 players make it JJ's actions AFTER the ball was snapped a completely moot point. And BEFORE the ball was snapped, every moronic decision was made by the coaches, not the players. The players, including JJ, were awaiting instructions and executing the Chinese fire drill so ordered by the coaches.

Wrong, as the stupidity of the play unfolded JJ did not what so ever try and hurry up or clock it... Just stared at the sidelines... Rewatch it champ

Changing personnel was the cardinal sin though, no matter what Jefferson, or anyone else did at that point was moot. Once Shepard, Randle, and Toliver were sent on the field, we were doomed.
Jefferson couldn't just make his own play up, nor could he just say, "frick it" and ignore the coaches and spike it anyway. I suppose he could have done that, but that pretty much goes against everything he has been taught.

Now tell me exactly when you wanted him to hurry up or clock it.
Looking to the sidelines is EXACTLY what Jefferson should have done, son.

By the time he could have run another play, either pass or clock it, the staff had already sent players onto the field.
There was nothing he could do.
This.
I don't know why this is so hard for some people to comprehend. They would rather attack JJ than admit the extremely obvious mistakes made by the coaches. And what are they attacking JJ for? For not overruling his coaches? There is no end to the lengths people will go to attack JJ (or defend Lee). I'm no fan of JJ and there's plenty of things he does that are his fault, but I can't blame him for some of the worst coaching decisions I have EVER witnessed with under a minute to play. Not to mention the horrible waste of timeouts that made this scenario possible in the first place.
But no... let's trip over ourselves to ascribe some blame to JJ. I can't believe people would actually ascribe blame to JJ for one of the coaching staff's most visible and egregious set of blunders. Rantards never fail to amaze me...

I would make an argument that if our players, who have been playing football most of their lives since they were 10ish, need instruction on what to do when you are 1 yard from the endzone with approximately 20 seconds left in the game then they shouldn't be out there.
Also are you assuming that JJ knew that they had 13 players on the field when he dove on the ball? If so why didn't he just call for the snap right then and there instead of having T-Bob make that heady play??? And don't give me the bullshite about he did call for the snap and they couldn't hear we all know that our signal for snapping the ball is visual or at least it should be.

while this is an absolute fact coaching is 99.9% to blame......a quaterback should accept some of the blame for this.....if only becuase he is a good leader and owns up to his teams mistakes.

Then this season, we’ve gotten away from it, and the exact same thing comes right back to bite us. It was like, ‘Wow, this is happening all over again.
Holy shite. So the team doesn't practice two minute drills????

it doesn't make him a good leader, it makes him a liar
if the coaches blatantly frick up a situation and are obviously at fault, Jefferson, and any player, have the right to blame them. Why should they get bashed for something not on them? Thats silly

Ding ding ding ding... We have a winner to all you responding that JJ could do nothing... With 32 secs left I'm telling my guys in the huddle that if we don't make this we hussle back to the line and clock it if I knew we didn't have the right people... And as a coach I'm telling him that before I send him in... This isn't rocket science

what if these weren't his instructions?
what if he was told to look back at the sideline for the next player if he didn't get in?

Come on now any good quarterback worth a flip would tell you the buck stops with him when it comes to what the hell is going on when the offense is on the field......hell most good quarterbacks are seen as on the field coaches.

I hadn't seen that thread before. Nicely done.

Have we not all agreed that Miles is an idiot.....why would you let your coach make you look like an idiot, especially if you know what the frick needs to be done.

because all was well until the subs came running in
at that point Jefferson's hands were tied

Are you serious?? That entire breakdown is fricking retarded... 8 seconds is a god damn eternity from the 25 secs to 17 of toliver running on... You are suppose to know what you are gonna do if what you are planning on doing doesn't work... Everyone in that field had no plan for that play not working which is why you got that whole clusterfrick... Jefferson and Miles are equally at fault

While I put most of the blame on Miles, the offense is not under control when JJ is in the game.
Its pretty obvious that JJ isn't in command on the field. This is definitely one of his top weaknesses.

"Hey guys, I know there were 14 LSU players on the field, but I should have told the coaches to frick off and then clocked it so that we could waste 3rd down and get a penalty. My bad."
