He was the 9 rated qb in 2010. Not sure if he can come in and start though.

Didn't know this. Maybe he has a future on the gridiron after all if he's going to be this committed to it. Interesting to see how this plays out. I don't know if QB is a position where you can succeed if you're dividing your time as a dual-sport athlete.

I hope so, just not this year cause that would mean several losses.

How much worse can it get than watching JJ and the Merkeets last year? Basically, they went into the huddle (the ones that knew they were supposed to be there), talked about gettin laid, broke the huddle and went to the line, waited like clowns for the real call to come down from teh Confusion god, look at wrist to find out who he was going to throw it to........and take a timeout or hold it for a sack.
I think Zack might have a shot at improving that. Could we really do worse than 112th? Someone could come in and average 2 int's per game and we would still do better thean 112th. IMHO

How can this be stated without ever seeing him play even a down of college football??
REMEMBER a few years ago the same hype was for Jarrett Lee....
I hope it works out just dont count your chickens before they hatch.

he is not enrolled full time.
his options are still open.
1. still possible that he is in spring training with the Dodgers in 2011.
2. J lee can stop throwing INTs. If we see that this summer in practice, J Lee will be the starter and do well.

and Gary Crowton will frick up yet another 4-5 star quarterback. Why is he still here?

Kyle Parker disagrees. He is the clemson starting qb and also plays baseball.
It's impressive, and I'm not saying it's impossible... but our offense is apparently incredibly more complex than an average college and certainly more so than "check down to Spiller if no one is open."
Its just a matter of how good Lee really is and how much we can develop him properly. Step One is not playing him as a true freshman at QB regardless of what the season looks like.

The 2 greatest quarterbacks in LSU history: Y.A. Tittle and the latest freshman phenom never to have taken a college snap.

Of course they are. I don't think he would limit himself like that. But when you consider everything, it makes it a strong lean that he'll be on our football roster.
LA Dodgers are in heavy debt
He's a first-round pick
He WANTS to play football at LSU
He's taking classes
He's participating in football drills
All good signs

Sounds exactly like the Josh Booty story to me.

My guess would be some kind of mixture of Les' loyalty to his assistants, Alleva, and Crowton's buyout.

I think that's logical. I seriously doubt they brought in Billy G as the heir to McCarthy or that they brought in Ensminger to coach TEs. As a former D1 QB, you'd think that he's going to have some input there.
When you look at all of that, what does it seem like Crowton is doing other than sitting in the box scratching his arse with his playbook?
