Interviewed at Oregon, LSU, and Texas before taking Miss St job. Miss St not looking good and they got a new AD who might want to hire his own coach… was kind of put in a tough spot after Leach passed away and promoted to HC.

Young and short coaching career with stops only San Diego State and Miss St so far. Is he ready for the big boy job? That’s the question.

frick no. We are trying to get rid of a DC who won’t adjust no matter what. Let’s not go out and get another one. He also hasn’t recruited on the level we found use, either.

Just throwing out names that might end up on a “list”. Would not prefer him, just he might get some looks.

I hope he would be well down the list.

Leonard, Lake, Aranda (if available), Muschamp, and Baker would likely all rank higher. Schumann would too if he would be willing to listen. I would put Bo Davis ahead of Arnett if he wants to be a DC.

You had me with everything except Bo Davis part. Maybe CO-DC but coaches potentially learning on the job scares me. Davis would be a hell of a recruiter but we need a coach that is a proven commodity.

He’s the only guy who doesn’t have experience I would consider. He’s been in the NFL and at a few big time programs. He has a lot of experience. We know he’s an awesome DL coach and recruiter and he already has all the connections needed in our region.

It should be easy enough to vet Davis. Coaches who know and have worked with him should be able to tell if he’s a guy who can run a defense and has shown interest in it. I get the learning on the job concerns, but if you put the right staff around him, he may be worth it. And it hurts Texas and they have been a problem for us recruiting on defense lately.
