Not the same. Not even close. If this was the NFL, with a tried and true playoff sytem that was in place for decades, then yes, I'd agree with you. This is not. This was a DIVISIONAL rival in a system with 119 teams where "every game counts".....supposedly...
This. A given team plays roughly 10 percent teams. How in the hell do you give one team another bite at the apple when one with a statistically "better" resume is denied under an "every game counts" scenerio.
It was total and complete bullshite.

No, it's entirly unique.
No, what I meant was the following: certain posters here complain that Alabama was arbitrarily declared the "champion" even though the teams were 1-1 against each other in 2011. That outcome isn't unique. Where there is a rematch in the SECCG and the regular season loser wins the championship, that team is designated the champion even though the teams were 1-1 overall. One game is simply more important that the other, by definition. So it was with the NCG. That game was instrinsically more important, by definition.

I agree with that, but the primary difference with what happened last year was that all known "rules" were switched. When LSU and UF play, there is always the possibility they may meet again. Until 2011, that was not even feasible to this that two divisional teams would rematch in this era.
